Getting a well-balanced mid-range gaming PC for much under $2,000 can be tricky. However, we’ve spotted one PC with appreciable specs that is down from $2,000 to $1,800 at Amazon. The Asus ROG G700 is a smart-looking system for 1440p gamers, and the current price is its best so far. It’s also a price that will secure a system that should last for years to come.

Why we like the ASUS ROG G700

A balanced CPU

Intel’s Core Ultra 7 265F is a well-balanced option for a daily-use PC. It will deliver strong multi-threaded productivity and serve as a solid CPU for 1440p gaming, paired with the PC’s RTX 5070 graphics card. It’s also a very efficient and cool-running processor, should those be key considerations.

Smooth 1440p gaming

As part of a complementary gaming setup, the RTX 5070 is a good option for smooth 1440p gaming. And, as we saw in our hands-on review of the Asus TUF RTX 5070, it’s a graphics card that can push to 4K in some situations. The GPU’s 12GB of GDDR7 VRAM also makes it a decent option for content creators and streamers.

Capable storage and RAM

The Asus ROG G700’s supporting specs include 16GB of DDR5 RAM and a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD. The RAM capacity will be sufficient for modern titles at 1440p, and the 1TB storage is enough for a decent mix of installed games, apps, operating system, and more.

What to consider before you buy

The Asus ROG G700 comes in a variety of different spec configurations. This deal is for the most affordable build option, which means you get 16GB of DDR5 RAM and not 32GB, and the Core Ultra 7 265F rather than the overclockable 265KF (despite what the product selector says). Be sure to pick the configuration that best suits your preferences from the product page, knowing that each upgrade will increase the system cost. So you’re best to keep in mind your maximum budget, and tinker from there – all while comparing to other PCs for a good view of market trends.
