What the ASUS ROG Strix G16 brings to the table
Nuclear-level firepower with the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus and RTX 5080
The Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus is a monstrous processor that is only found in enthusiast-level or workstation type machine, meaning you’ll get the top of the line processing power with this CPU on your side. It comes with 24 cores and threads, a base 55W power, a 5.5GHz boost clock speed, and a 3nm process. This design equips it with everything that it needs to handle extreme processing and multitasking. You’ll get to experience next-level efficiency and quick turnaround times in demanding workflows.
So, when you add the RTX 5080 alongside this animal, you truly have nothing to worry about, as this combo will blaze through anything you put in front of it. This graphics card is powered by the Blackwell architecture, meaning it comes with all the next-gen features such as Studio, DLSS, MFG, and Reflex 2. On top of that, the 16GB GDDR7 VRAM allows it to handle heavy workloads with ease, such as 4K/8K video editing, large local AI models, rendering, and more.
Since there is plenty of memory to go around, heavy processes can be handled in parallel without hitting the ceiling, which eliminates bottlenecks, allowing the system to keep operating in a great flow. Gaming doesn’t even make it break a sweat, and you can easily connect an external 4K monitor with its Thunderbolt 5 port and enjoy high FPS gaming and leverage DLSS 4.5 and MFG for a consistent output.
Exceptional display, perfect for gaming and creatives
It only makes sense that a premium gaming laptop such as this has an incredible display as well. The 16″ display comes with a 2560 x 1600 resolution, giving it a 16:10 aspect ratio. So, you’ll get plenty of screen real estate, and the native 240Hz refresh rate will power a streamlined gaming experience, perfect for competitive gaming, racing, and more. However, with Armoury Crate, you can set the GPU to Ultimate mode, and that will push the FPS to 300Hz, which is simply incredible.
It has an anti-glare coating that’ll allow you to easily work in bright rooms and outdoors, but the 100% DCI-P3 color space coverage is something outstanding. This color space is usually used for movies, theaters, etc so you can use it for editing or creating such content, but there is no limit, and you can edit photos, videos, and other content using this color space as well.
Powerful cooling design
The processor and graphics card of this gaming laptop are very powerful, so it wouldn’t be surprising if they generate a lot of heat. To cater to that, ASUS installed an end-to-end vapor chamber that covers all the components and efficiently dissipates the heat. There are triple fans that pull in cold air and push out the hot air, while the sandwiched heatsink keeps everything cool and at an optimal temperature. There is also Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal on the chipset, which doesn’t let it overheat, ensuring a consistent and high-level performance.
Easy to upgrade and has exceptional connectivity options
One of the best aspects of this gaming laptop is the tool-free design. It comes with 32GB DDR5 RAM and a 1TB SSD, which are great options. However, with the Q-Latch system and this design element, you won’t need to pull everything apart, as you can easily access the RAM and SSD slots, take them out, and install high-capacity options easily. You should be able to push these specs up to 64GB DDR5 RAM and a 4TB SSD.
You’ll also find a handful of connectivity options such as WiFi 7 for a bulletproof wireless connection, but the 2.5G Ethernet port will allow you to experience the full potential of your internet plan. There is also a Thunderbolt 5 port that will allow you to transfer large amounts of data to and from the laptop very quickly; however, it also accommodates high-speed connections such as an external SSD or monitor.
