GPU and CPU
This gaming PC has the impressive RTX 4090, which we’ve reviewed here at PC Guide. Regardless of the RTX 5090’s frankly insane specs, the 4090 is still the way to go for people wanting the best of the best when it comes to gaming and more intensive tasks. Most notably, it has a massive 24GB GDDR6X VRAM, which blows away most of the competition. For 4K gaming at max settings, this is the GPU for you.
The CPU, the much loved Ryzen 7 7800X3D, was a complete game-changer when it released, as it featured the new 3D cache architecture that allowed the L3-cache to be massively increased. L3-cache is arguably the most important for gamers, and this CPU has a huge 96 MB. Combine that with a base clock of 4.2 GHz and a boost clock of 5 GHz, and you’ve got something that still hangs in there with the best processors around. For reference, the 7900X3D benchmarks recently leaked on geekbench and it looks like it will have a 4.7 GHz base clock and 5.3 GHz boost. You can check out our full Ryzen 7 7800X3D review here.
RAM and SSD
As expected, you’ve got DDR5 RAM this build, a decent 32GB of it too. DDR5 RAM is the way to go for any premium build and a vast improvement on DDR4. The effect of this should be seen in your more standard usage of the PC, rather than in any one particular area, but as far as a quality of life improvement, it certainly ticks all the right boxes. The 2TB NVMe SSD is a bit more interesting for gamers, as it will vastly improve loading and savings times in-game, plus give you some room to work with you plan on building a vast gaming library.
Design and cooling
For cooling you’ve got 4x RGB ring fans to maximize airflow, which should help keep your CPU running cool. The design of the PC itself is the Skytech Azure gaming case, which features tempered glass so you can see everything on the inside of the rig. What’s great is that since the glass is on both the side and front panel, it allows the RGB lighting to shine out from more than one angle.
Should you go for it, or wait till Black Friday instead?
I’ve been writing about deals for years now, so I’ll give you some honest advice here. Black Friday deals are good, but sometimes they’re not as good as they appear. In fact, over the years the time before Black Friday itself tends to bring in some excellent offers – just without the inconvenience or rush to purchase them.
I’d say that this gaming pc could drop a little lower around Black Friday, and the longer the 9800X3D and eventual RTX 5090 are out, we could see it drop further still. Is it going to be discounted heavily by Black Friday…I’d predict it’s unlikely.
If you’re looking for a do-it-all gaming PC that’s going to last you for years, this is a great option to go for. Whether you pull the trigger now, I’ll leave up to you!
