Popular flagship 16GB Radeon RX 9070 XT gets over $100 price cut just ahead of Amazon Prime Day
Table of Contents
With more than 500 purchased in the past month, PowerColor’s Reaper RX 9070 XT has proven to be a popular ‘Amazon’s Choice’ model as of late. The RX 9070 XT currently sits at the top of AMD’s RX 9000 series, shipping with support for its latest FSR 4 technologies and 16GB of VRAM, offering a solid alternative to the likes of Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Ti.
PowerColor is also a go-to manufacturer for many Radeon owners, typically offering solid value for money. GPU prices have been affected by ongoing memory shortages, but this 14% discount helps cushion that blow. Usually listed for $799.99, the PowerColor Reaper is currently available for just $689.99 – one of the cheapest RX 9070 XT models listed on Amazon US.

Why we like this RX 9070 XT deal
Ideal for 1440p gaming or even 4K
The RX 9070 XT is best utilized as a graphics card for 1440p gaming, but it also has the power to run 4K native, too. While we haven’t tested this specific PowerColor model, we have tested the ASUS Prime OC, so we can give you a good idea of how well the RX 9070 XT performs. The benchmarks below cover a range of titles in 1080p, 1440p, and 4K resolutions.

16GB of VRAM
With 4GB more than the RTX 5070, the RX 9070 XT offers 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM, ensuring that it doesn’t falter in more memory-intensive games. While 8GB cards have fallen out of favor, 16GB GPUs offer more than enough headroom for modern AAA titles. In other words, you will have an easier time running at higher texture settings and resolutions.
FSR 4 support
FSR 4 is currently exclusive to AMD’s GPUs with RDNA 4 architecture, though last-gen RX 7000 series GPUs will finally be getting support this July. Either way, the RX 9070 XT unlocks full access to FSR 4 (or FSR Redstone) features such as AMD’s best upscaling technology to date, and FSR Frame Generation.
With FSR upscaling widely supported in modern games, the 4K and high refresh rate 1440p capabilities are only boosted by this ML (machine learning)-powered technology. You can enjoy high frame rates at higher resolutions while retaining excellent visual quality. Ray tracing has also been much improved for AMD’s RX 9000 series cards, albeit still behind Nvidia.
Who should buy this RX 9070 XT for Prime Day?
If you’re looking to pick up a great graphics card for 1440p gaming, then this Powercolor RX 9070 XT is a solid choice. As mentioned, it’s also solid for 4K, making it an excellent sub-$700 option. Especially at a time when Nvidia’s 16GB 5070 Ti GPU will cost you more than $900.
We recommend the RX 9070 XT as a more budget-friendly option that provides better future-proofing than cards below it, such as the RX 9060 XT, or to a lesser extent, Nvidia’s RTX 5070. FSR 4 is also an excellent bonus, and while it may be second favorite to Nvidia’s DLSS, it remains a powerful suite of features.
