Table of Contents
This premium HP Omen gaming laptop is now $410 off at Newegg, and has been reduced from $2,859.00 to $2,449.00. Now, for an RTX 5070 laptop, that’s quite pricey, but this laptop brings a lot to the table, packing a powerhouse, high-core-count Ryzen 9 8950HX processor, a huge 64GB of DDR5 RAM, and a massive 4TB SSD. It also features a 240Hz WQXGA display for crisp picture quality and very high refresh rate gaming. If you’re looking for something that’s going to make short work out of 1440p gaming, and be able to handle demanding multitasking and creative workflows with ease, then this is a very good option to consider while it’s got a hefty price cut.
Key features of this HP Omen RTX 5070 gaming laptop
RTX 5070 mobile graphics card
The RTX 5070 is one of the best graphics cards you can go for if you’re looking for excellent 1400p gaming performance. It features 8 GB of high-bandwidth and faster GDDR7 VRAM, and has advanced 4th-gen ray tracing cores and 5th-gen tensor cores, the latter of which are key to powering the 50-series exclusive multi-frame generation and various AI-accelerated tasks. It’s a great all-rounder card that can easily be used by content creators, too, with enough raw power to handle tasks like editing and rendering well, without completely breaking the bank.
Ryzen 9 8940HX processor
This processor is an excellent mobile CPU if you’re after extremely strong multitasking performance, alongside top-tier gaming capabilities, too. It features 16 cores and 32 threads, which is more than enough for those looking for something to stream, record footage, and run background applications like Discord while gaming. It’s also pretty much ideal for applications like Blender and Adobe Premiere Pro, which work best by leveraging multiple cores when handling more complex editing workloads. For gaming, it has a 5.3GHz boost clock speed and massive 64MB L3 cache, which makes it ideal for high fps gaming with very low frame latency. That’s going to come in very handy when playing fast-paced competitive games, but it’s also going to be great when running more demanding AAA open-world titles, too.

Display
This laptop features an IPS, anti-glare, low blue light display, which comes in at a very respectable 500 nits of brightness. It’s also 100% sRGB, which means that it’s decent for editing content for the web, and for making colors look vibrant, too. In terms of gaming performance, you’ve got 240Hz here with WQXGA resolution, or 2560 x 1600p. That’s great for the RTX 5070 mobile, as it targets higher-end 1440p/ 1600p, and it gives you plenty of headroom if you want to tweak settings for very high fps, for more esports-like gaming.
Storage and RAM
Curiously, they’ve smashed this laptop with DDR5 and storage, coming in at 64GB of DDR5 and a huge 4TB SSD. With this amount of RAM, you’re going to be able to play more demanding AAA titles, like Cyberpunk 2077, and have it perform smoothly without running into stuttering. You’re also going to have loads of headroom for when you’re working on huge files in Premiere Pro, Blender, or Photoshop, for instance. Its storage basically allows you to “save it and forget it”, so even if you have a huge gaming library and never delete anything, I’d be surprised if this filled up that quickly.
Things to consider
Personally, this configuration is pretty overkill with its RAM and storage, and I think that it’s always a wise move to put money towards something like a CPU, GPU, or display over something that can be upgraded when needed. I’d be checking out laptops like this Lenovo Legion, which have OLED, but slightly lower refresh rate, WQXGA screens. Or you could even go for an RTX 5070 Ti laptop, like this one from MSI, which is actually cheaper! Take a look at our other gaming laptop deals below to see what else is currently on sale.
