Why the HyperX Omen Max 16 caught our attention
Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus
This is a high-end processor made for premium gaming and workstation laptops. There is no processor from Team Blue on the mobile side that can outperform it, and it is truly a force to be reckoned with. Based on the Arrow Lake HX refresh architecture, it comes with 24 cores and threads with a 5.5GHz boost clock speed, 55W base TDP, 160W max TDP, Intel AI Boost, and more. The level of hardware in this processor is downright incredible, and it’ll quickly execute anything you put in its path. It could be related to AI, heavy creative apps, 3D rendering, 8K video editing, software development, simulations, encoding; it wouldn’t matter, and that is what you get with the best of the best.

RTX 5090
It only makes sense to pair one of the best CPUs with the RTX 5090 to make a killer combination. The RTX 5090 is perfect for AI, content creation, and other GPU-intensive processes, and there is no other GPU that can do what it does. So, this pairing has you covered from all sides, and you can confidently take on challenges knowing that you have more than enough processing power on your hands to deal with anything. 4K gaming is a walk in the park, and it can easily handle 1600p, meaning you’ll get to experience everything that the 240Hz display has to offer.
Insane RAM and SSD support
The HyperX Omen Max comes with 64GB DDR5 RAM and a 2TB SSD, which is a good combo as it’ll allow you to take on intensive tasks without having to worry about running out of space. However, what really caught our attention was the upgrade potential. You can take the storage up to 8TB, split between two 4TB SSDs, and the RAM up to a mind-blowing 128GB DDR5 RAM. Doing so will future-proof this gaming laptop even more, and there is nothing you will have to worry about.
OLED display
You can only enjoy what the CPU and GPU can do by experiencing it visually, and HP made a great decision by including a 16″ OLED display. This has a QHD+ (2560 x 1600) resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. While these specs are very impressive, the raw quality of OLED is the kicker, as the deep blacks, bright highlights, near-infinite contrast, and outstanding details will make gaming and streaming a truly premium experience. Other than that, the gameplay will be super smooth, as there is no doubt that the RTX 5090 can handle QHD+ with ease, and even if you turn on ray tracing, it will have no issues, but you can make up for the difference with DLSS if you want.
Unleashed Mode and Omen Tempest Pro
HP gaming laptop comes with an Unleashed Mode, which basically removes the power limiter and allows for the maximum output. This gaming laptop has a full release of 250W split between 125W and 175W for the CPU and GPU. What this means is that when these components get as much power as they want, the cores can run faster, and they’ll be able to handle even the most extreme of applications and workflows.
However, if overheating came to mind, that would be correct because high-end components like these also generate a lot of heat. That will be handled by the Omen Tempest Pro cooling system that is made up of a vapor chamber, heat pipes, Omen Cryo compound, and self-cleaning fans from Intel. This will ensure that it keeps running cool and also protects it from long-term damage.
