It’s a rough time to be looking for a graphics card upgrade or part for a new build. We’ve been seeing high prices for a while, and last week the Asus Prime RX 9070 XT spiked at $800 on Amazon. Thankfully, though, that price has been reversed and then some, with the graphics card now at a more likable price of $720. That’s also back below price tracker Camelcamelcamel’s reported (Amazon) average price of $773.49. So it really is a better price for a 4K-capable graphics card.

Why we like the Asus Prime Radeon RX 9070 XT

RTX 4080-like performance

The RTX 4080 was one of the best graphics cards of its generation. And for the RX 9070 XT, it’s similarity to that card says a lot. In our hands-on review of this Asus Prime variant, we noted that it can reach 4080 levels, including speedy 4K frame rates in modern titles. That’s good for gamers!

FSR 4 support

AMD’s FSR 4 AI-powered scaling technology is far better than previous iterations, meaning the RX 9070 XT can pull on more than its pure, impressive, rasterization power. so if you’re concerned about previous AMD graphics card ‘features’, the gap between Team Green and Team Red is not as big as it once was.

Good value

Albeit more expensive than the 9070 XT’s promising $600 MSRP, this GPU is our best graphics card for gaming when you focus on price. That makes it an easy recommend if you want 4K gaming, but are understandably put off by the RTX 5070 Ti and models above and beyond.

What to consider before you buy

The RX 9070 XT is a fine graphics card, and if gaming is your focus then it’s hard to tihnk you’d be unimpressed in having it as an upgrade. However, if you’re a content creator, streamer, or demand the best ray-tracing and AI-powered graphics performance, Nvidia still leads the line on each of those. That’s not to say the RX 9070 XT is bad, but Nvidia’s price premium isn’t without some logic. Still, for pure gaming, this writer would pick this deal if they were in need…and keep hold of some cash.
