Table of Contents
It would be remiss of us not to point out any chance to secure the Ryzen 7 9800X3D with a discount. And Amazon’s recent price- squash on the processor has stuck around longer than we anticipated. At just $5 above its lowest price to date, you can still get the 3D V-Cache-powered CPU for $415 – a $64 drop on the $479 list price. It’s a strong deal in our book, and if your PC is focused on gaming, it’s not one to be ignored.
Why we love the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
Best-in-class performance
Our hands-on review of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D proved it to be the best-in-class processor across gaming tests. It beats its illustrious predecessor, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, in all games, even toppling AMD’s Ryzen 9950X and Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285K. No surprise, then, we rate it 5 stars.
Huge L3 cache
The key element that allows the processor to reach such heights is its massive L3 cache, powered by AMD 3D V-Cache technology. This ‘X3D factor’ allows the 9800X3D to store frequently accessed data, making it quicker to process information, leading to faster frame rates.

More balanced
The Ryzen 9800X3D is a more balanced processor than its forebearer. So it’s the best CPU for gaming, and it matches up well against AMD’s own Ryzen 7 9700X in single and multi-core tests, too. That’s encouraging for users who not only game, but whose PC’s have that as a main focus.
What to consider before you buy
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is a fantastic processor for gamers, and it will take something special to beat its performance-per-dollar in the future. So if you’re building or upgrading a Socket AM5 gaming system, this deal may come at the right time. The CPU has seen a lower price before, but only by $5. So, whether waiting for a steeper discount makes sense is up to you. Right now, we think this is a strong deal that can make lots of gamers very happy.
