S-tier Samsung 8K 85-inch TV now almost $2000 off its list price with Amazon deal
Table of Contents
There’s a huge deal going on Amazon right now that’s knocked almost $2000 off this stunning Samsung 85-inch 8K TV’s list price, bringing its price down from $7,997.99 to $5,999.99. It’s also just a few cents shy off its lowest price ever, too. 8K TVs aren’t for everyone, as they’re super pricey and there isn’t much in the way of native 8K content, but they are phenominal when it comes to upscaling, and boast powerful processors to significantly optimize picture quality. Having significantly more pixels than a 4K TV also makes them superior at larger sizes, too. If you’re going for something truly S-tier, then this TV is well worth checking out while it’s reduced.

Key features of this Samsung 85-inch Class Neo QLED 8K TV
NQ8 AI Gen3 processor
This is one of Samsung’s most advanced processors, and is designed primarily to upscale content into near 8K quality. It essentially leverages a massive neural network to optimize and enhance picture and audio quality in realtime. It’s packed with special features and capabilities, but a few that stick out are its AI Motion Enhancer Pro, which addresses motion issues and is great for watching sports, and Real Depth Enhancer Pro, which mimics how the human eye processes depth.
120z refesh rate
The best TVs all have high refresh rates like this one, and it’s vital if you’re watching fast-paced content or gaming on high-end consoles and PCs. This will allow you to play at 120fps and 8K in theory, but for most people it’s pretty overkill. That being said, if you have something like an RTX 5090 gaming PC, you can game at very fps at 4K, and it’ll look incredible on this TV.

8K resolution and 85 inches
8K, while not everyone’s first choice, is still brilliant if you’re going for extreme detail and realism. Of course, with native 8K content it looks incedible, but native 8K content is very rare, even nowadays. Where it comes into its own is with its upscaling and downscaling. When downscaling, in particular, it makes 4K look super crisp, specifically creating sharper edges. It’s also a prefered choice for larger screens like this one, as pixel density is greater than a 4K alternative.
Neo QLED
These terms are always a little confusing, so let’s be super clear. This TV combines Quantum Dot color with a mini-LED backlight system. Quantum Dot technology is all about enhancing color, and uses light-emmitting nanocrystals to increase accuracy, vibrancy, and brightness. Mini-LED panels, as the name suggest, have loads of small LEDs that allow for more precise control, whether that be contrast, color, or brightness. The upside? You’re getting top-tier picture quality that’s bright enough for well-lit rooms. The downside? Sometimes mini-LED TVs can get a bit of haloing in high contrast scenes, but the higher-end the model, the less this happens, in general.
Things to consider
With 8K it’s really all about the price, in all honesty, and while they do get hefty discounts, it’s possible to really reduce spend if you opt for a 4K alternative. Samsung Neo QLED 4K TVs are more affordable, and have very advanced processors that leverage neural networks for top-tier upscaling. Hisense and TCL TVs are even more affordable, and go all-in on gaming features, generally having FreeSync Premium, 144Hz refresh rates, and ALLM.
