The MSI Codex Z2 (A8NVM-671US) could be the perfect cost-conscious gaming PC if you’re upgrading from an older system. Thanks to an Amazon deal, it looks like a good pickup if you want to experience 1440p gaming but need to keep an eye on expenditure. This RTX 5060 Ti 16GB gaming PC is priced at $1,600 right now, which is $500 below its regular list price. It’s a big discount on a Socket AM5 system with good potential.

Why we like this MSI Codex Z2 gaming PC deal

Decent mixed-use CPU

AMD’s Ryzen 7 8700F performs similarly to the older Socket AM4 Ryzen 7 5700X, but it is enough to fuel a 1440p gaming system, particularly with the graphics card that MSI has provided here. The Ryzen 7 8700F is an 8-core, 16-thread processor that is energy-efficient and will suit casual daily use as well as gaming.

Socket AM5 potential

The Codex Z2 is built upon AMD’s Socket AM5 platform. That opens up a good amount of drop-in upgrade potential, since Socket Am4 is a dead end and both productivity and gaming-focused CPUs are strong on the AM5 socket. Plus, it may continue to get stronger with the next generation of AMD processors.

Good 1440p GPU

The RTX 5060Ti 16GB is our best entry-level graphics card for gaming. It’s a solid 1440p-focused GPU with good staying power thanks to its 16GB VRAM. Its longevity will also be tied to its Blackwell architecture: usefully, the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB can utilize Nvidia’s latest features, including AI-enabled DLSS 4 upscaling and multi-frame generation.

What to consider before you buy

The Codex Z2 is available with the less-powerful Ryzen 5 8400F and RTX 5060 for an even lower budget, but that system won’t deliver 1440p gaming. We think the 8700F and RTX 5060 Ti 16GB configuration is the best for performance-per-dollar, thanks to this deal. You could also opt for a 2TB NVMe SSD upgrade and 32GB of DDR5 RAM rather than 16GB. Choosing both upgrades on the product page is the best value option (rather than upgrading one or the other). But it will also boost the cost to around $2,000.
