The RTX 5080 is most people’s pick for the top gaming graphics card. It’s also one of the most expensive consumer graphics cards we’ve seen to date. Add in third-party variants, and costs rise further. So it’s good to see one model dipping in price, thanks to an early Prime Day deal.

The MSI RTX 5080 16G Inspire 3X OC Black previously dropped to an all-time low earlier this month. And while the new deal isn’t so favorable, it’s the second-lowest price this card has seen. At $1,330, the card is now $90 below the list price. And it’s a solid saving ahead of the Prime Day event.

Why we like this MSI RTX 5080 graphics card

Generational gains

In our RTX 5080 review, we noted that the newer-generation card delivers a 5-19% improvement on the RTX 4080. This model has the core performance, with a boosted Extreme Clock of 2655 MHz (vs 2617 MHz). That puts it further ahead of the last-gen and means you can enjoy slick 4K gaming without issue.

Compact design

The Inspire 3X Black design of this GPU is compact and unfussy, or chic, depending on how you view it. But it’s one of the sleeker triple-fan designs we’ve seen, while packing in all that 5080 goodness for gamers and (if you choose) content creation. The RTX 5080 is our best graphics card for gaming. And this design adds style and its MSI StormForce cooling ethos.

AI and DLSS

If you need to power local AI features or are keen on Nvidia’s DLSS and AI scaling tech, the RTX 5080 delivers. From Multi-frame Generation (MFG) to Super Scaling and AI acceleration for gaming or productivity, the RTX 5080 is well-equipped. It’s a powerhouse of a card, ready for AI workloads, thanks to its integrated AI processors.

What to consider before you buy

The RTX 5080 is an investment that works if you demand the gaming, content, or productivity power it provides. The price is the obvious consideration, though, as this card’s price has already been lower this month. It may well drop back down again, so if you don’t need a 5080 right now, it may be worth waiting for Prime Day proper, or shopping around for more deals.
