What we like about this Samsung Odyssey OLED G80SH monitor
32-inch 4K QD-OLED panel
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 G80SH combines a 32-inch screen with a native 3840 x 2160 resolution and QD-OLED panel technology. This provides approximately 8.3 million individually controlled pixels, giving the monitor both the fine image detail associated with 4K and the exceptionally deep black levels, pixel-level illumination, and rich color reproduction of an emissive OLED display.

Approximately 140 PPI pixel density
Fitting 3840 x 2160 pixels into a 32-inch panel results in a pixel density of roughly 140 PPI. This represents a significant improvement in fine-detail reproduction over 27- or 32-inch 1440p displays and makes the G80SH particularly suitable for high-resolution gaming, detailed desktop work, text, photo editing, and 4K video.
240Hz refresh rate
The G80SH manages to combine its high 4K resolution with a 240Hz maximum refresh rate. At 240Hz, a new refresh can occur approximately every 4.17ms, giving high-frame-rate games substantially smoother motion and more frequent visual updates than conventional 60Hz, 120Hz, or 144Hz displays.
0.03ms GtG response time
Samsung specifies an extremely fast 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time. OLED pixels can change state considerably faster than the liquid crystals used by conventional LCD monitors, helping the G80SH maintain excellent motion clarity without the pronounced transition smearing that can undermine the benefits of a high refresh rate.
DisplayHDR True Black 500
VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification takes advantage of OLED’s ability to produce exceptionally dark blacks at the pixel level. This gives HDR content strong contrast and precise control over small highlights without depending on the relatively large local-dimming zones required by Mini-LED displays.
Pantone Validated color
Pantone Validation adds another dimension to the G80SH beyond gaming. Combined with QD-OLED’s strong color capabilities, it makes the monitor more suitable for workflows where predictable color reproduction matters, including photography, digital illustration, graphic design, and video production.
DisplayPort 2.1 connectivity
DisplayPort 2.1 provides a high-bandwidth connection for modern gaming PCs. The supplied specification quotes bandwidth reaching up to 80Gbps, giving the monitor a particularly capable interface for handling the substantial data requirements created by combining 4K resolution, high refresh rates, HDR, and high color depth.
USB-C with high-power charging
USB-C substantially improves the monitor’s usefulness with laptops and compact workstations. The connection combines display connectivity with high-power charging, allowing a compatible notebook to receive close to 100W of power while connected and reducing the number of separate cables and power adapters required on a desk.
OLED Safeguard+
Samsung’s OLED Safeguard+ technology is designed to address the thermal management and image-retention considerations associated with OLED panels. Its Dynamic Cooling System helps control panel temperature, while additional protective measures reduce the risk associated with displaying static interfaces for prolonged periods.
Glare Free technology
The matte Glare Free surface is particularly useful on a desktop display that may be used throughout the day. It reduces distracting reflections from windows, lamps, and other environmental light sources, making dark OLED content easier to see in rooms that cannot be completely light controlled.
Who should buy this Samsung Odyssey OLED monitor
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 G80SH is aimed at gamers who want high refresh rates without accepting the resolution compromise traditionally associated with esports-focused monitors. Combining 4K with 240Hz makes it equally relevant to fast competitive games and visually ambitious AAA releases. Its 32-inch size is also particularly well suited to 4K. The approximately 140 PPI density provides a clear improvement over 1440p while giving users substantially more physical screen area than a 27-inch display, making fine graphical details easier to appreciate without requiring an excessively large desktop monitor.
Content creators are another obvious audience. QD-OLED contrast, Pantone Validation, 4K resolution, and extensive connectivity give the monitor credentials for photo, video, graphics, and other visually intensive work alongside gaming. USB-C connectivity also makes the G80SH unusually attractive for users switching between a desktop gaming PC and a work laptop. One display can therefore operate as both a high-end gaming monitor and the centerpiece of a cleaner productivity setup.
