This Samsung 85-inch mini-LED M70H TV is down to its best price ever on Amazon, with a solid 20% off its list price, coming in at $797.99. This TV is essentially a cost-effective mini-LED TV designed for those who want something for big-screen viewing, that’s a level up from your standard LED/LCD options. At this price point, it’s not going to be a surprise that it scales back in some areas, and these are worth knowing before diving in, but they’re ultimately not areas that you’d miss if you want something for everyday usage and casual gaming.

Since it’s mini-LED, you’re going to get more precise contrast and brightness control than your typical budget-friendly LED/LCD options, which is good if you want a slightly more cinematic viewing experience. It supports HDR10+, which is decent if you want something that can adjust its settings dynamically throughout a movie, but not quite as top-tier as Dolby Vision. It has a 60Hz refresh rate, which is fine for 4K at up to 60fps and decent for casual gaming. It also has a DLG 120Hz mode, which can make on-screen motion appear as if it’s higher FPS by sacrificing picture clarity.

It’s going to be a good option if you’re after massive scale, but want to put some of your spend towards ensuring that picture quality is still decent. If that sounds like you, brilliant, as now is genuinely a good time to grab it at a price that I think makes a lot of sense.

Reasons to consider this Samsung 85-inch M70H 4K TV

A genuinely competitive price for a large mini-LED TV

At 85 inches, prices can skyrocket well above $1,000, so grabbing a mini-LED for under $800 is a win if you’re looking to stick to a budget.

Decent gaming features for the price

It may only have a 60Hz refresh rate, but DLG 120Hz isn’t half bad to have at your disposal for, say, more competitive titles.

Pure Spectrum Color and Color Booster technology

With Pure Spectrum Color, you’re going to be getting more nuanced, lifelike color, with smoother transitions between similar shades, and with Color Booster, picture settings can be adjusted in real time to make everything look punchier and more vibrant.

Cinematically sized

At 85 inches, you’re stepping into home theatre territory in some senses, as this can be seriously large in the right room. Pair this TV with a soundbar or speakers, and you’ve got a relatively budget-friendly but immersive setup that’s great for watching movies and shows.

Is this deal right for you?

It’s not too shabby for the price at all, and considering how huge it is, you’re certainly getting your money’s worth here. As for alternatives, personally, just like the difference between 280Hz and 360Hz with a gaming monitor, when it comes to sizing, you usually end up paying a lot more for fairly minimal gains when it comes to TVs. I’d advise looking at 75-inch models, potentially Neo QLEDs, and seeing what you can get when they’re on sale. Simply moving your sofa or chairs closer to the screen will mitigate any loss in scale, and you’ll get better overall performance for your cash.
