The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially replaced the legendary 4090 as the most powerful consumer GPU on the market. If you’re looking for the absolute best graphics card for 4K gaming with ray tracing, there’s simply no better option right now.

Built on the new Blackwell architecture, the RTX 5090 packs an astonishing 21,760 CUDA cores alongside 32GB of ultra-fast GDDR7 memory. This ensures that no matter how demanding the game or workload, you won’t run into VRAM bottlenecks or performance slowdowns.

For the first time in a consumer GPU, Nvidia has implemented a 512-bit memory interface. Combined with a 28 Gbps memory clock, this delivers a staggering 1.79 TB/s of memory bandwidth, making it the fastest memory system we’ve ever seen on a graphics card. Add in PCIe 5.0 support, and the 5090 handles everything from high-end gaming to professional rendering and AI workflows without breaking a sweat.

Sitting as the flagship card, the RTX 5090 is no doubt a spectacular graphics card. Shredding through any task you throw at it and playing games with great framerates, no matter the resolution. But the MSI Suprim SOC is a surprisingly big custom model for it, along with the price tag, it’s definitely not suited for everyone. However, it comes with a great overclock and an impressive cooling solution, which all make it one of the best graphics cards out there right now, with some incredible specs, particularly a high-end VRAM setup.

PC Guide

In testing, the RTX 5090 delivered outstanding performance across the board, especially at 4K resolution, where its massive VRAM buffer ensures smooth gameplay even with maxed-out settings and ray tracing enabled. It also proved highly capable in creative workloads, all while maintaining surprisingly manageable thermals.

That said, such power doesn’t come without trade-offs. The MSI Suprim SOC edition we reviewed comes heavily factory-overclocked and is built on a massive triple-slot cooler. Measuring 359 x 150 x 76 mm, it’s an absolute giant—challenging to fit into many cases and quite heavy to mount. Combine that with its extremely high price tag, and it’s clear the RTX 5090 isn’t for everyone.

Still, if you want the best GPU money can buy, whether for cutting-edge gaming or professional use, the RTX 5090 stands at the very top of the graphics card market.

AMD took its time with its RDNA 4 launch, delaying past CES 2025 and finally unveiling the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 in March. That extra development clearly paid off; early reviews, including ours, have praised the performance, pricing, and overall competitiveness of the new cards, even if the 9070 XT and 9070 sit very close together in the lineup.

The RX 9070 XT is powered by the new Navi 48 GPU, bringing RDNA 4 architecture to the upper mid-range. While it doesn’t attempt to challenge Nvidia’s flagship 90-series, it does deliver modern features, impressive clock speeds approaching 3 GHz, and PCIe 5.0 support. Custom partner models often push well past 3 GHz with factory overclocks.

AMD has also shifted back to a monolithic die design and stuck with GDDR6 memory, choices that help keep costs down without sacrificing real-world gaming performance. Priced at $599 MSRP, the RX 9070 XT consistently outperforms the RTX 5070 and often edges closer to the RTX 4080 and 5080, offering remarkable value for its tier.

AMD has made great strides in general performances, even in the ray tracing capabilities. Even though the nono-gaming ability isn’t quite on par with Nvidia, it offers great value for gaming and what it is capable of in general.

PC Guide

In our testing, the RX 9070 XT impressed across resolutions. In Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K Ultra, it averaged 61 FPS, with ray tracing enabled still proving playable, a major improvement over older Radeon generations. Against the RTX 5070, the lead narrows when ray tracing is in play, but AMD’s FSR with frame generation helps make up the gap, even if it’s not as advanced as DLSS 4’s multi-frame rendering.

The main weakness remains synthetic and productivity workloads, where Nvidia retains an edge. While 3DMark and general rendering benchmarks show solid results, Geekbench AI tests highlight areas where RDNA 4 lags behind Blackwell-based RTX cards.

That said, for pure gaming performance per dollar, the RX 9070 XT is a standout. It offers excellent performance, modern features, and better value than the RTX 5070, making it one of the most compelling mid-range GPUs on the market right now.

Is the Ryzen 9 7950X3D good for gaming?

Yes, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D is excellent for gaming. Its large cache boosts performance in many games, especially those CPU-intensive titles. While not the absolute fastest, it competes with the best and offers great value for gamers.

Does the 7950X3D have a GPU?

Yes, as an AM5 CPU without an F suffix in its name, the processor does have integrated graphics. On it, you can find two AMD Radeon Graphics cores, with a 2,200MHz frequency. But it’s more used for a basic visual output, helpful for troubleshooting and simple stuff rather than full-on graphics tasks.

Does the 7950X3D need a GPU?

If you’re doing just basic visuals and browsing, then you don’t need a GPU. But that is a waste of performance; you can do CPU-intensive tasks, but anything more like 3D rendering and GPU-heavy stuff, you do need a discrete graphics card. Pairing it with some of the high-end options is the ideal option to go for.
