IO Interactive has clarified and corrected the PC system requirements for 007 First Light after the original specs caused confusion and concern across the PC gaming community. According to the studio, the earlier requirements were published by mistake due to an internal miscommunication and did not reflect the game’s final performance targets.

The main concern with the previous requirements

When the system requirements first went live, many players were caught off guard by how demanding they looked. Even at the minimum level, the game was listed as needing a GPU with 8GB of VRAM and 16GB of system RAM just to hit 1080p at 30 FPS. The recommended specs raised even more concerns. For 1080p at 60 FPS, players were told they would need a graphics card with at least 12GB of VRAM and a hefty 32GB of system RAM.

The timing made things even worse. RAM prices are currently extremely high due to massive demand from AI data centers, and upgrading memory is far more expensive than it was just a year ago. For many PC gamers, seeing a 32GB recommendation for 1080p felt unrealistic and out of touch with the current market. It also led to wider concerns about how demanding the game might be at higher resolutions like 1440p or 4K, especially for players on mid-range systems.

Following community feedback, IO Interactive issued an official statement explaining that the specs were pulled from an older internal version and shared incorrectly. After reviewing the situation and running additional testing, the studio updated the requirements. The biggest change is the recommended system RAM, which has been reduced from 32GB to 16GB. VRAM figures have also been adjusted, and an error in the minimum CPU listing has been corrected. The developers also confirmed that more detailed performance targets will be shared closer to launch. Here are the updated specs:

The studio apologized for the confusion and thanked players for calling out the inconsistencies. While 007 First Light may still be a demanding title, the corrected specs appear to be much friendlier than before.
