Valve has released a new update for the Steam Deck Beta client, introducing several improvements and bug fixes. The update is currently available on the Preview/Beta channel and is expected to roll out to the stable channel in the coming weeks. One of the notable changes in this update is the resolution of a rare issue that could cause the login page to repeatedly fail with an “error 11” code. This frustrating bug has been addressed, ensuring a smoother login experience for Steam Deck users.
Reddit users had been reporting the “error 11” login issue on the Steam Deck for nearly two years. The persistent, albeit rare, nature of the bug has led to numerous posts and discussions on various Steam Deck forums. Frustrated users shared their experiences, workarounds, and calls for a resolution. The widespread complaints and the length of time the issue persisted highlighted the need for Valve to address this recurring problem, making its inclusion in the latest Steam Deck client update a relief.
Additional fixes to the Steam Deck and Steam Input
Additionally, the update fixes a problem that prevented game resolution overrides from applying correctly for non-Steam games. This means that users can now more reliably set their desired resolution for games that are not part of the Steam library. This is a nice change considering Valve recently added a global game resolution setting.
Steam Input has also received several enhancements. Output Icons have been added to all Mode/Behavior dropdown menus, making it easier for users to understand the intended output of each mode. Analog Actions that can be used in multiple ways, such as “Camera | Camera as FlickStick,” are now clearly labeled to indicate the available options.
Furthermore, Gyro Processing has been optimized to occur after the controller type is established, improving the overall performance and responsiveness of the gyro feature. Issues with Track Pad as Button Behavior and the duplicate appearance of the “Gyro Calibration” button have also been resolved.
