Handheld devices are becoming more popular every day, as they allow people to play their favorite games on the go. Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally are some of the most popular ones, and new devices are released each year. Now, it seems Retroid, a Chinese company known for developing retro handheld gaming devices, is taking things to the next level with its upcoming Pocket Mini.

Introducing the Retroid Pocket Mini

Retroid unveiled the Pocket Mini on its official YouTube channel, where it posted a reveal video for the upcoming retro gaming handheld. The video showcases the console but doesn’t provide any specific details about its features. However, we can see that it includes the standard ABXY buttons, L1/R1/L2/R2 shoulder buttons, two analog sticks, and a D-pad.

On top of that, the device features a primarily white color scheme with red accents on the buttons and D-pad. The analog sticks are backlit, which, while not necessary for use in the dark, improves the overall aesthetics of the device.

While the video didn’t reveal the device’s specs, the official Retroid Pocket X account shared some details about the display. According to them, the Pocket Mini will feature a 3.7-inch OLED display with a 1280 x 960 resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio. The account also confirmed that the display will be touchscreen.

At the moment, the company has not yet disclosed the release date or price of the Retroid Pocket Mini. All we know so far is how the device looks and the details of its display. In our opinion, we think it looks great – the design is neat and stylish. While it likely won’t have the power (or size) to take on the likes of the Steam Deck, this looks to be a fantastic alternative – and one which will actually fit in your pocket. Perfect for retro game lovers on the go.
