The handheld gaming market gets more crowded each year, and Acer is hoping to stand out with the new Predator Atlas 8, announced at Computex 2026. Alongside the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+, it’s one of the first handhelds powered by Intel’s new Arc G-Series processors, a fresh alternative to AMD-powered devices like the Steam Deck, ROG Xbox Ally, and Legion Go 2.

Acer is positioning the Predator Atlas 8 as a premium handheld built for players who want desktop-like gaming performance in a portable form factor. Along with Intel’s latest graphics technology, the handheld features an 8-inch 120Hz display, a large battery, customizable controls, and a new cooling system designed to keep performance stable during long gaming sessions. If you’re interested in learning more, continue reading below, as we’ll go over its release date, specs, and price.

Acer Predator Atlas 8 release date

Acer has confirmed that the Predator Atlas 8 will launch in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia starting in October 2026. The company has not announced an exact launch date yet, but October marks the official release window. We’ve already mentioned the new Arc-powered MSI Claw, which actually arrives this June, leaving Acer trailing.

Acer Predator Atlas 8 specs and early impressions

The Predator Atlas 8 comes with some impressive hardware on paper. Buyers will be able to choose between Intel Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme processors, with graphics options going up to the Intel Arc B390 GPU.

The handheld features an 8-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) touchscreen display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support. On top of that, the display is very bright at up to 500 nits, so you can easily use it in bright environments. Acer has also included Gorilla Glass Victus protection and an anti-glare coating to improve visibility, so you won’t have to worry about seeing any annoying reflections on the screen.

As far as memory is concerned, it goes up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM, while storage can be configured with up to a 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD. The device is powered by an 80Wh battery, but we’ll have to wait for reviews to go live to see how long it will last after a full charge.

Connectivity includes dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, a UHS-II microSD card reader, Intel Killer Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. Acer has also focused heavily on controls as the Atlas 8 includes Hall-effect analog triggers, adjustable trigger switches, full-size analog sticks, rear macro buttons, and a dedicated PredatorSense button for quick performance adjustments. Cooling is handled by a dual-fan setup that includes Acer’s new Predator AeroBlade metal fan. According to Acer, the design improves airflow while helping the handheld maintain performance during demanding games.

Acer Predator Atlas 8 price estimate

Nearly two months after first introducing it, Acer has revealed official pricing of the Predator Atlas 8 – at least in the United Kingdom. As you’d expect, it sits in the premium end of the market with its top configs, but the presence of two Intel Arc G3 (non-extreme) models helps balance out the series.

  • Predator Atlas 8 – Intel Arc G3, 16GB memory, 512GB storage – £999.99
  • Predator Atlas 8 – Intel Arc G3, 24GB memory, 512GB storage – £1,099.99
  • Predator Atlas 8 Extreme – Intel Arc G3 Extreme, 24GB memory, 1TB storage – £1,299.99
  • Predator Atlas 8 Extreme – Intel Arc G3 Extreme, 32GB memory, 1TB storage – £1,499.99

For comparison, the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ powered by Intel Arc G3 Extreme starts at £1,399, as only a top-spec Extreme model with 1TB storage and 32GB RAM is available. It’s currently priced at $1,799 in the United States, but we’ll have to wait and see how much the Atlas 8 will cost in the US closer to launch.
