AMD partner Sapphire is starting to discontinue its RX 7000 series GPUs
With the official announcement of the Radeon RX 9070 series expected to be revealed by AMD in the next few days – Team Red has already announced a reveal event on February 28th – the sun is setting on the preceding RX 7000 series. As a result, some board partners are starting to announce discontinuation.
Sapphire Technology is one of AMD's best-known board partners for the production of its graphics cards. The Hong Kong-based firm recently posted on Twitter/X that it was making plans to discontinue some of the current product lines, including the RX 7800 XT, RX 7900 XT, and RX 7900 XTX.
- GPU: Navi 32
- Stream Processors: 3,840
- VRAM: 16 GDDR6
- Memory bus width: 256-bit
- Bandwidth: 624.1 GB/sec
- Base clock speed: 1,295 MHz
RX 7800 XT and above “will be gradually discontinued” says Sapphire Japan
The post confirmed that the company would be of the current product line until notification came in from AMD about the official discontinuation. The RX 7800 XT is expected to be first for the chop, with higher-end models following later.
“Our current RX 7800 XT and above products (including RX 7900 XT and XTX) will be gradually discontinued.
In particular, we still have a fair number of PULSE RX 7800 XTs reserved for the domestic market, but if you’re not careful they will sell out in an instant, so if you come across our product, please consider purchasing it.”

Customers in Japan who still want to buy an RX 7800 have no reason to worry yet, however. The social media goes on to say that a fair number of PULSE RX 7800 XTs are still available for the domestic market. The post does warn that this stock is still limited and will “melt away in an instant if you are not careful.”
Though vague, the working of the post does suggest that some of these Japanese domestic RX 7800 XT cards will be discounted, which is why they are likely to sell out quickly as consumers rush to snap up a bargain. Whether this gradual discontinuation in Japan will spread over to overseas markets remains to be seen.
The post ends with a polite request: “If you come across one of our products, please consider buying it.”
With the release of the AMD Radeon RX 9070 expected to be as soon as March 8 (based on current rumors), expect a few more board partners to announce the discontinuation of its old products. If you are lucky, you might even be able to take advantage of a discount as retailers try to shift old inventory.
