AMD is really keeping its old generation alive and kicking as it keeps releasing new hardware for it. As AM5 longevity is a key goal in a similar vein to AM4, it’s living up to the promise as it is releasing another CPU alongside its new generation. With the Ryzen 9000 series release, we are likely also getting the 5900XT. So if you’re looking at where you might be able to buy it, we have listed to usual places we expect to find it.
We don’t expect the Zen 3 to be at the forefront of reviews and news, as it is an older chip but it certainly is there for a certain market. Not only helping prolong the platform but also using up and issued chips and not having to get rid of them. In that case, if you’re building out a budget gaming PC or looking for an upgrade, here’s where you might look to buy the CPU on release.

Where to buy the AMD Ryzen 9 5900XT CA – Expected retailers
North of the border, it’s a fairly similar story. With very much the same retailers expected to be listing the new CPU.
Where to buy the AMD Ryzen 9 5900XT UK – Expected retailers
Now in the UK, there’s a range of other retailers we have that sell electronics hardware. These are the ones that usually are the ones to look for.
How much will the 5900XT cost?
There really is no indication of how much the CPU will cost as of yet. AMD withholds its price until at least the reviews go live or the products go on sale. Although originally it was said they would cost $359 this was later revoked as an error in communication. Previous releases that are around this tier have been as follows:
- 5900X – $549
- 5950X – $799
- 3900X – $499
- 3950X – $749
The AMD CPU is meant to fit in between the top of the 5000 series however, it’s been about 4 years since their release, so it’s highly unlikely that the 5900XT will come out at the full price. So we can expect a much lower price like the 5600GT came out earlier this year for $140 compared to the 5600X MSRP of $299. In that case, we do imagine the $359 will likely be the upper limit for the processor.
Can you pre-order the 5900XT?
Currently, you can not pre-order the CPU. There aren’t even many product pages available and they’re unlikely to come till the day they release. Although B&H has as usual got theirs up early and gives us an insight into when we might expect that to happen. There it says that the preorder will start at 9 am ET on Wednesday the 31st of July, so if you’re looking to grab the processor, you’ll have to wait until then.
When can you buy the 5900XT?
Thanks to B&H Photo we know the 5900XT is going to be available on the 31st of July, and AMD confirmed the release date of the 9000 series to the same day. In that case, we expect the processor to be available to buy on that same day and unlikely to be beforehand.
