AMD’s RX 9070 finally appears in Steam’s monthly survey, below every single RTX 50 series GPU

Now that 2026 has arrived, that means a new month of Steam data to dive into. The hardware & software survey results for December 2025 have been published online, and for the very first time, an RX 9000 series graphics card has made an appearance. It’s clear that Nvidia’s GPU market share is still miles ahead of the competition, but it’s nice to see rival AMD being represented in the latest stats.
RDNA 4 is the latest generation of AMD Radeon graphics cards, led by the flagship RX 9070 XT, closely followed by the non-XT model, and it’s the latter which is first to make an appearance on the monthly Steam hardware survey. Below these two SKUs, there’s also the cheaper RX 9060 XT (and the non-XT variant designed for prebuilt systems).
RX 9070 share on Steam is behind Nvidia’s flagship RTX 5090
The latest round of GPUs from AMD and Nvidia launched at the start of 2025, and while it didn’t take long for Nvidia’s latest RTX 50 series cards to crop up on the Steam survey results, it has taken the best part of a year for AMD’s RX 9000 series to achieve the same feat. There’s still no sign of the 9070 XT or 9060 series, though it should be noted that the vague “AMD Radeon Graphics” entry has continued to grow.
| GPU (desktop) | Usage (December 2025) |
|---|---|
| RTX 5070 | 3.05% |
| RTX 5060 | 2.21% |
| RTX 5070 Ti | 1.94% |
| RTX 5060 Ti | 1.74% |
| RTX 5080 | 1.68% |
| RTX 5090 | 0.60% |
| RX 9070 | 0.22% |

As we alluded to above, the generic Radeon entry may be hiding statistics for some of the latest Radeon GPU stats. Confusingly, there are actually two entries, AMD Radeon Graphics and AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics, which have grown by 0.78% and 1.25%, respectively. Stats for Nvidia’s RTX 50 series are much more clear-cut. Team Green’s laptop GPUs also continue to be highly ranked on the Steam charts – RTX 4060 laptops make up a notable 5.85% of Steam users.

Last month, stats revealed Nvidia’s desktop GPU market share hit 92%, leaving just 7% for AMD and 1% for Intel, so it’s fair to say that Nvidia is hardly being challenged, despite RDNA 4 data potentially being hidden behind the generic tag. RDNA 4 GPUs have exclusive access to FSR 4, which has now been rebranded to FSR Redstone with new ML-powered features.
