Another RTX 50 Super GPU leak suggests Nvidia will soon discontinue the RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen specs being rumored or leaked for the RTX 50 series Super graphics cards. Just like the 40 series, these GPUs are expected to provide a new and improved version of the original 50 series GPUs without a price hike. Reportedly, the biggest upgrades will be in the memory department, which is something everyone should be happy about.
We hope to see RTX 50 Super cards launch for the very same price as the originals. The latest leak, however, suggests the refreshed models could cost between $50-100 extra, but doesn’t rule out the possibility of unchanged pricing. The report also suggests Nvidia could be phasing out some of the non-Super cards as soon as October.
Nvidia might discontinue RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti this October
The new leak comes from Moore’s Law Is Dead, who has had a pretty good track record recently. According to the leaker’s sources, Nvidia plans to discontinue the RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti in October. These are both 16GB graphics cards, so the implication is that Nvidia wants to offer more VRAM above the $550 price point. We’ve already seen reports of Nvidia cutting back supply of its lower VRAM cards, notably the 8GB RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti.
Based on the leak, both the 5080 Super and 5070 Ti Super cards will retain the same number of CUDA cores as their non-Super versions. The RTX 5070 jumps up to 6,400 CUDA cores (up from 6,144 on the original). But it’s the VRAM improvements that impress us most. You can see the full leak below:
| Specs/details (leaked) | RTX 5080 Super | RTX 5070 Ti Super | RTX 5070 Super |
|---|---|---|---|
| CUDA Cores | 10,752 | 8,960 | 6,400 |
| Memory size | 24GB GDDR7 | 24GB GDDR7 | 18GB GDDR7 |
| Memory clock speed | 32+ Gbps | 28 Gbps | 28 Gbps |
| TDP | 415W | 350W | 275W |
| Performance uplift | +9-16% | +7-11% | +8-12% |
| Price | $999-$1,199 | $749-799 | $549-599 |
One of the most striking comparisons, based on these leaks so far, is that the 5070 Super is set to have 2GB more VRAM than the non-Super RTX 5080. At a time when PC gamers are asking for more VRAM, this is a welcome upgrade. The 5080 Super is also set to improve its memory clock speed to at least 32 Gbps, up from 30 Gbps (which is already more than the flagship RTX 5090).

All cards are expected to launch as soon as Q4 2025, which deviates from the Q1 2026 release window we would have suggested based on how the 40 series refresh went down. However, Moore’s Law Is Dead does suggest that the RTX 5080 Super could be pushed back to this latter date to make time for a 36 Gbps memory clock upgrade.
In any case, the improved performance of Super cards reflects on the higher power draws. For comparison, the standard 50 series GPUs have a TDP of 360W, 300W, and 250W, respectively. This may have an effect on the recommended power supply wattage.
