Following the release of the iPhone 16 series and more at Apple’s recent ‘It’s Glowtime’ event, people have been waiting for the latest Operating System updates on their Apple devices. iOS 18 is now out with a bunch of new settings to try out (we put together a guide of settings we’d change on iOS 18 if you’re interested).
Considering that the iPadOS update was about to bring some major changes, as well as much-awaited AI features, this update was one to look forward to. However, as per some recent reports, Apple has stopped rolling out the iPadOS 18 update for some iPads due to reports of bricked devices.
Apple halts iPadOS 18 release for M4-powered iPad Pro
According to the latest reports from MacRumors, Apple has pulled back the iPadOS 18 update following complaints from some iPad Pro users. iPad users have posted on Reddit that they had trouble installing the iPadOS 18 update. The author of the Reddit shared that the update was being installed, but the process was interrupted, and their iPad won’t turn on again.
“At some point during the update my iPad turned off, and would no longer turn on,” the Reddit user wrote. “I just took it to the Apple Store who confirmed it’s completely bricked,” the author added. Another user commented on the post that their iPad was bricked too. “Mine too. M4 iPad Pro 11″ bricked by update,” the user commented.
Meanwhile, other users were able to install the iPadOS 18 update without any issues. Some commenters suggested skipping the iPadOS 17.7 update and getting the iPadOS 18 update. However, several users suggested waiting a little before installing any updates altogether.
“We have temporarily removed the iPadOS 18 update for M4 iPad Pro models as we work to resolve an issue that is impacting a small number of devices,’ Apple said in a statement given to MacRumors.
At the moment, Apple has stopped the iPadOS 18 update completely, which means M4 iPad Pro users will not be able to download it. When the issue is fixed, the update will be available for installation again. However, the company hasn’t mentioned exactly when the update will be rolled out.
