As hype builds around Ubisoft’s upcoming feudal Japan-based RPG, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, leaked details regarding its potential platform performance are slowly starting to come out of the woodwork. And since the game is launching on current-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S), PC, and Mac, you may be wondering how its performance on your preferred gaming system compares to others.
Well, according to Arabhardware on X (formerly Twitter), there seemingly isn’t any need for comparison since Assassin’s Creed Shadows allegedly “runs at 60FPS on all platforms.” Now, if this ends up being true, it could surprisingly mean that the game’s Mac version won’t have any trouble keeping up with other systems. However, you may need to upgrade to one equipped with an M2 or M3 chip to enjoy its graphical potential fully.

Arabhardware’s post also claimed that AC Shadows would “have the best display quality on PS5 Pro.” Although PlayStation or Ubisoft have not confirmed this at the time of writing, it may be a given since a recent performance estimate makes the upcoming $700 console look like an “underclocked 7800XT.” Plus, a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth comparison from Digital Foundry has already showcased the noticeable graphical differences between the PS5 and the PS5 Pro, lending even more credence to Arabhardware’s as-yet unverified statement.
Improved Ubisoft Anvil engine enhances gameplay physics
Aside from a few more unconfirmed gameplay changes Arabhardware included in the same post, AC Shadows will also apparently have enhanced in-game physics, thanks to the improved Ubisoft Anvil engine. According to a report from IGN, it “can now realistically replicate the damage caused by every type of weapon, from accurate sword slices to perfect arrow puncture marks.” Still, with the game’s release date still a ways off, you’ll have to remain patient before you can try out these features for yourself.
