Larian Studios is set to release the highly anticipated Patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3 in the first week of September. This update promises to bring significant changes to the game, with the most notable being the introduction of official mod support. The Patch 7 Closed Beta was previously delayed, but now the wait is almost over.

While players have been able to enjoy unofficial mods since the game’s early access, such as the Equipment Failure mod we covered recently, the upcoming patch will provide modders with the tools to create even more immersive and customizable experiences.

Patch 7 also brings new cinematic endings and bug fixes

One of the key features of Update 7 is the inclusion of detailed cinematic endings for every Origin character, particularly the evil endings. This has been a long-awaited addition for fans, who have been eager to explore the darker paths their characters can take. However, the new evil endings have sparked controversy among beta testers, particularly in the case of Wyll.

In addition to the new content and features, Update 7 will also bring performance improvements and bug fixes. Larian has been committed to refining the game experience and addressing player feedback, and this update is expected to be a significant step in that direction. Despite the release being expected to happen in the first week of September, no official date has been given as of yet.

Mixed reaction from beta testers

Many beta testers have expressed dissatisfaction with Wyll’s evil ending, claiming that it feels too similar to the evil ending for a custom character (Tav). Users on Reddit and social media have debated this issue, with some accusing Larian of prioritizing Astarion due to his popularity among the fanbase.

While Larian has not officially confirmed these claims, it is clear that the update has generated mixed reactions. Some players are excited about the new content and features, while others are concerned about the potential imbalance in character development. It remains to be seen how Larian will address these concerns and whether the final version of Update 7 will satisfy the expectations of the player base.
