It's no mystery that one of the trade-offs with the Lenovo Legion Go is its 49.2Whr battery, which means your handheld doesn’t always run for as long as you’d like before prompting you to plug in the charger. Fortunately, we've recently started to see a wave of mods that offer significantly extended battery life for Legion Go owners. This comes after ROG Ally users have been doing the same thing considering the original’s poor 40Wh battery.

Following the release of these mods, Legion Go owners are now putting the upgraded 77.6Whr battery to the test with popular AAA titles. This comes from the Legion Go subreddit, where one user has tried the new battery upgrade while playing The Last of Us Part II, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and the Silent Hill remake, and does seem to be seeing an increase in overall runtime.

User reports around 40-50% increase in battery life

The user tested the 77.6Wh battery upgrade at three different TDP settings. At 30W, the handheld averaged 1 hour and 40 minutes of runtime. Dropping it to 25W increased that to 2 hours, while the best result came at 20W TDP, offering a total of 2 hours and 20 minutes. As per the user, the mod nearly doubles battery life at each TDP level compared to the stock 49.2Wh battery, with the upgrade offering about 35 to 45 minutes of extra playtime depending on the setting.

TDP (W)With mod (77.6Wh)Without mod (49.2Wh) – estimated results
30W1 hour 40 minutes~1 hour 3 minutes
25W2 hours~1 hour 16 minutes
20W2 hours 20 minutes~1 hour 29 minutes

The user also mentioned plans to test the battery with less demanding games and emulators, and to share results for lower TDPs like 10W and 15W. But we've already seen one report claiming that their Legion Go lasted 3.2 hours at 15W TDP after the upgrade.

That said, installing the battery mod can be a bit of a hassle, especially if you've never done anything like this before. Also, keep in mind that it adds noticeable weight to the console, which might make it less comfortable to use if you don't have the arm strength for longer sessions.
