Anthropic is the company behind Claude AI, a popular AI chatbot that is designed to excel at more complex writing, large document analysis, and coding tasks. Thousands of users have reported problems with the tool today, March 2, and the company has officially confirmed that an investigation is ongoing. At the time of writing, Anthropic says “a fix is being implemented,” though the service currently remains down.

Is Claude AI down right now?

Yes, according to data from Downdetector, a peak of over 2,000 users reported issues with the software, and while that number has since dropped off, more than 500 reports still continue to be uploaded to the site. Users are reporting login issues, slow performance, and disruptions to code, chat, and web services.

Anthropic has been providing an official update on the service, most recently reporting that the issue has been identified. The company first started investigating the issue around an hour and a half before attempting to implement a fix. According to the official status track, ‘Claude for Government’ remains operational, while the remainder of Claude services are suffering from “Partial” outages. It should be noted that Clade AI technology is reportedly being used by the US military.

Claude by Anthropic is one of the top free apps on Google Play and Apple’s App Store, sitting in the top 10 for Android users, and among Apple users, taking the number one spot on iPhone – ahead of ChatGPT and Google Gemini.
