Crimson Desert has quickly become one of the most anticipated games of the year. It was originally announced back in 2019, and while hype has been slowly building since then, it seems to have had an explosion of attention in 2026. Players are looking forward to jumping into its massive open world, and after years of development time, the wait is almost over.

The game is all set to release today, March 19, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It’s also one of the titles that takes advantage of Sony’s new PSS2 update, otherwise known as ‘upgraded PSSR’.

When does Crimson Desert launch today?

According to developers & publishers Pearl Abyss, Crimson Desert will release across all platforms on March 19 at 3 PM Pacific Time. If you’re trying to figure out when that is in your local time, we’ve compiled a list of all Crimson Desert release times for different regions below. If you want to be ready to play on minute one, pre-load for the game is already live, so you can download the files early (it’s a pretty big game, so it’s worth doing if you don’t want to wait around).

What does the game offer?

The game takes place in a vast open world called Pywel, where players follow the story of a warrior named Kliff. After a brutal ambush leaves his group, the Greymanes, scattered, Kliff sets out on a journey to reunite his allies and rebuild what was lost. Along the way, players will encounter different factions, uncover secrets, and face threats that could change the fate of the entire continent.

Crimson Desert focuses heavily on exploration and freedom. The world is filled with diverse environments, including forests, deserts, mountains, and cities. Players can travel across these areas using different mounts like horses, and even more unique options like dragons and mechs. There are also plenty of activities outside of combat, such as gathering resources, fishing, cooking, and upgrading your camp.

Combat is a major part of the experience and offers a lot of flexibility. Players can use a wide range of weapons, including swords, axes, spears, and ranged options. The system allows you to chain attacks together using dodges, counters, and grapples. You’ll also face different types of enemies, from regular foes to powerful bosses in large-scale fights and one-on-one encounters.
