Cyberpunk 2077 console mods arrive in Update 2.5 tomorrow, devs say it works similarly to The Witcher 3

With the upcoming Update 2.5 patch for Cyberpunk 2077, console players are finally getting access to mods. This means PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and even Nintendo Switch 2 owners will have access to fan-made modifications. Keep in mind that last-gen console versions of the game no longer receive these updates, so don’t expect support for those.
“You have the mod menu available right from the main menu of the game,” said CD Projekt Red in an official stream earlier today, and our first look at the new menu has been unveiled. Much like CDPR’s previous title, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077’s console mods are powered by the mod.io platform, so you can expect them to work in a similar fashion.
“[The mod menu] does have some similarities [with The Witcher 3], of course it’s stylized in a way to fit Cyberpunk, but the overall through process is similar. We wanted to keep it very consistent for our players, so if you have used mods in The Witcher 3, you will actually find this quite familiar. There are some differences, but they are not big, really.”
Paweł Sasko, Associate Game Director at CD Projekt Red
Cyberpunk 2077 will get an official in-game mod menu
With the new mod menu, players will be able to search for mods and install them easily, essentially with one click. Players will be able to enable and disable them at will. Players can download any combination of mods they like, and they “should really work,” together says Sasko. They’ve all been put through a curation process to make it into the official mod menu.

As per usual with game modding, CD Projekt Red does warn against enabling way too many mods at once, “I would ask you guys to be a little reasonable with the amount of them that you install because it can distablize your game in crazy ways if you just start going really overboard,” says Sasko. “Again, that’s all in your hands,” he adds. Take that as a little warning.
Added Cross-Platform Mod Support, powered by mod.io, a first step into cross-platform modding that allows you to easily browse and install a selection of player-created mods directly from the in-game menu. More mods will become available over time. The feature is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

The Edgerunners 2-themed update arrives on October 22 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. CD Projekt Red notes that it will come to Nintendo Switch 2 and Mac at a later date (no specifics confirmed, “in a few days, maybe a few hours, we’ll see,” say the devs), while those playing on PC via Battle.net will be able to download Update 2.5 on November 10.
There’s much more to the major update than console modding, too. It adds two new side quests, including Clampdown, tied to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, alongside a new radio station featuring music from the anime, five new clothing sets, additional hairstyles, and customisable arm and hand cyberware through new Glamdoc ripperdocs.
Update 2.5 also introduces dual-wielding power pistols and revolvers via a new perk, 12 Minor Arcana tarot cards, a much-requested console FOV slider, improved DLSS support, performance optimisations, enhanced HDR, and quality-of-life changes such as save-file grouping and stash item filters.
