If you’re excited about the upcoming Nvidia RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti graphics cards, you might want to hold off on buying them right away. That’s because reviews for AMD’s new RX 9070 series cards, including the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, might get published on the same day as the 5070 launch. This could change everything when it comes to choosing the best next-gen GPU for your rig. Keep in mind that the 5070 Ti release date is February 20th, but the non-Ti model has been delayed to March.
AMD announced the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT graphics cards during CES 2025. However, they didn't share much about the specifications or pricing back then. This left many people wondering what these cards would offer. But now, it looks like we'll finally get the answers we need soon.

9070 series reviews will reportedly go live on March 5
According to a report from VideoCardz, reviews for the RX 9070 series will be going live on March 5th. This follows a presentation about the new RX 9000 series GPUs, which AMD has already officially announced for February 28th.
- February 28: AMD will share details about its new RDNA 4 architecture. This could include the specifications of the RX 9070 series, which will help us understand how powerful these cards might be.
- March 5: The embargo on reviews for the RX 9070 series could lift. This means tech reviewers will be finally able to publish their reviews and performance tests of the new cards.
It is important to keep in mind that March 5 is also the day Nvidia will launch its RTX 5070. With both companies competing for attention on the same day, things could get interesting. Recent leaks suggest that the RX 9070 XT performs as well as the RTX 4080, or maybe even better. While the leaked scores put it behind the RTX 5080, it still performed better than the 4070 Ti Super, making it a direct competitor of the 5070 Ti. Some leaks even show the RX 9070 XT performing almost as well as the RTX 4090 in the Monster Hunter Wilds benchmark tool.
Right now, it's hard to say which card will offer the best value for money. Most people are willing to spend around $599 on the 9070 XT, but we don’t know what the official prices are yet. In any case, if you rush to buy the RTX 5070 or 5070 Ti, you might miss out on a potentially better option from AMD. Instead, wait for the reviews to get published first before making a decision.
