GeForce Now is a cloud gaming service developed by Nvidia that allows you to stream PC games directly to your devices, removing the need for a high-performance gaming PC of your own. Not that Dota 2 really requires one in the first place.
Anyway, Dota 2 is one of the games available on the platform, and one of the biggest games on Steam. However, many players are currently facing serious issues, with most complaints centered around the game freezing at the logo screen.
Dota 2 freezing at the logo screen on GeForce Now
According to a Reddit user, Dota 2 was running fine for them on GeForce Now. However, after taking a break and relaunching the game a few hours later, it began freezing at the logo screen. The user mentioned that they tried restarting their device multiple times and relaunching the game, but nothing has made the problem go away.
This issue isn’t limited to just one user. A good number of replies to the post have confirmed that many others are facing the same problem. The most common complaint among users on the thread is that Dota 2 freezes at the logo screen and fails to load into the main menu. This freeze occurs right when the game starts up, leaving players stuck without any way to access the game’s settings or gameplay.
One user reported that the issue appeared for them after they installed an update while playing Dota 2, and now their game is no longer going past the logo screen. The problem seems to be specific to Dota 2 on GeForce Now, as another user mentioned that other games, including CS2, were working fine for them.
Is there any fix?
While there hasn’t been an official response from Nvidia or Valve (the developer of Dota 2) at the time of writing, the problem might be related to a recent Dota 2 or GeForce Now update, which may have introduced compatibility issues. At the moment, all you can do is keep an eye on the official social accounts of both GeForce Now and Dota 2 for any announcements regarding a fix.
Hopefully, the developers will acknowledge the issue and provide a solution soon. There’s at least one comment noting that it has been fixed now, but we were unable to confirm this. In the meantime, you can check out al the new games coming to GeForce Now on a regular basis.
