Fallout 4 players are currently looking forward to the Fallout: London mod, which is expected to transform the game into a whole new experience, away from the usual American setting. The mod has been in development since 2019, and the community has been waiting for its arrival with great excitement.
Although an exact release date hasn’t been announced, it is expected to drop any day now. However, there’s some disappointing news for those who purchased Fallout 4 through the Epic Games Store, as they might not be able to try the new mod – at least not at launch.
Bad news for Epic Games Store users looking forward to Fallout: London
Fallout: London is a full conversion mod that will transform the wasteland into a post-apocalyptic version of the British capital, London. It will offer new factions, quests, and a complete overhaul. In other words, you may feel like you’re playing a brand-new game instead of just some extra content. And now, after it was announced the Fallout: London mod is not compatible with the next-gen version of Fallout 4, a spokesperson for GOG.com has told VG247 that the mod won’t also work with the Epic Games Store version of the game.

Team Folon previously claimed that the next-gen version of Fallout 4 is not stable with the London mod, which is why players will be required to downgrade to the old version of the game. The next-gen version advertises improved visuals, but you’ll need to return to the older version to enjoy the content of the mod. But you won’t have to worry about manually downgrading as Team Folon will include a down-patch within the mod. However, as Epic Games Store does not support update rollbacks, the mod won’t be available for those who purchased Fallout 4 through Epic’s store.
Team Folon isn’t to blame, as they claimed they discovered this in the “11th hour,” so they don’t have a proper solution for this right now. At the moment, they’ve only confirmed that those who own the game through GOG will be able to enjoy the mod without any issues. The spokesperson did mention that the current situation shows the importance of supporting update rollbacks, indicating that Epic Games should work on it.
In any case, Team Folon has not ruled out future support for the Epic Games Store version of the game. After the mod has been released, they might start working on making it available for everyone, regardless of where they purchased the game from. Whether you don’t mind buying another copy on GOG is up to you, if you can bear waiting.
