Epic Games has been giving away free games for years. The current two free titles are The Darkside Detective and The Jackbox Party Pack 4, and both of these will be free to keep as long as you claim them before December 11. Usually we get to see what’s next ahead of time, but Epic has instead listed its next free offer as a ‘Mystery Game’ to be unveiled during The Game Awards.

The Game Awards are just around the corner, taking place on December 11. The annual awards ceremony has become a much-talked about event in the world of gaming – some of the top contenders for the coveted ‘Game of the Year’ prize include Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Donkey Kong Bananza.

Two free games on the Epic Games Store now, next deal on December 11

Christmas time usually comes with a long list of offers on the Epic Games Store (EGS). Last year, there were new mystery games throughout the majority of the month (this Reddit post serves as a reminder), and a couple that spilled over in the new year. While we’ll have to wait and see if Epic does something similar this year, you can grab The Darkside Detective and The Jackbox Party Pack 4 in the meantime.

Mystery Game unlocks on December 11 in the U.S.

The Game Awards broadcast kicks on at 8 PM Eastern Time, though the deal will be unlocking a few hours later, at 11 PM. Here’s how that looks around the world. For most people, this crosses over into December 12.
