French retailer lists an RTX 5060 gaming PC ahead of reveal
The latest leaks come from a French retailer, which has listed a pre-built Acer Nitro PC that comes equipped with an RTX 5060 card. A close inspection revealed some details on the specifications of this card.
According to the listing spotted by hardware leaked momomo_us on X, which has since been removed, the RTX 5060 will launch with 3,840 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR7 RAM using a 128-bit memory bus. It also appears to be a fairly low-powered GPU, requiring only 150W.
Less VRAM than an RTX 3060
The 8GB VRAM is a point of contention. Though it uses the modern fast GDDR7, many PC gaming enthusiasts do not feel that 8GB is sufficient for an expensive modern card like the RTX 5060. In fact, if the leaked specs are accurate, the RTX 5060 will have less VRAM than the RTX 3060, which launched in 2021 with 12GB of RAM. Last gen, we also saw the RTX 4060 revert to 8GB.
The leak must also be viewed in the context of the wider RTX 50 series launch. Ongoing supply issues have pushed prices up massively. Also worth noting are the ‘Black screen' driver issues, missing ROPs, and melting power connectors. All these issues combined have made many PC gaming fans unenthusiastic about buying a card that is likely to be expensive, but has lower VRAM than the RTX 3060.
As one user of the VideoCardz comments section put it: “Garbage card. If you have to go entry level, I don’t see the point in this. Too bad the absolute low end isn’t like £100 or less and the high end 300-400 like they used to be in the mid 2000’s.”
