The RTX 3060 is one of the most popular graphics cards on the market despite releasing over four years ago. It offers a great balance of price and performance and is considered one of the best cards for 1080p gaming on a budget. For a long time, it has dominated the Steam Hardware Survey charts, holding the top spot. However, its 40-series successor has finally taken its place.

RTX 4060 is now the top card in the latest Steam Survey
The Steam Hardware & Software Survey is designed to give people (and Valve) an idea of what Steam users have in their rigs. If you check the latest one (February 2025), you’ll see that the RTX 4060 is now at the top, while the RTX 3060, which has held on to the spot for a long time, has dropped below it.
According to the latest results, 8.57% of Steam users on PC currently have the RTX 4060, while 6.87% have the RTX 3060. Just below these two is the RTX 4060 Ti, a slightly more powerful version of the base model, sitting comfortably in third place with a 6.56% share. The interesting part is that, as shown in the image below, Nvidia is dominating the charts, with the top 10 cards consisting of a mix of RTX and GTX models.
The RTX 4060 offers notable improvements over its predecessor, the RTX 3060. Designed with budget-conscious gamers in mind, it delivers excellent performance for 1080p gaming, ensuring smooth gameplay in most modern titles. In fact, when we reviewed the RTX 4060, we were impressed by its ability to deliver high FPS in some games at 1440p. For instance, in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Far Cry 6, the GPU was able to hit 74 and 84 FPS, respectively, at 1440p, with the graphics maxed out and no upscaling used.
Nvidia fans are also currently waiting for the RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti to hit the market. While Nvidia has yet to reveal the cards, the latest leaks and rumors suggest that these budget 50 series cards are delayed to sometime in April.
