Now that 11 Bit Studios’ post-apocalyptic city-building sequel is practically here, you’ll need to know what the Frostpunk 2 system requirements are so you can jump into it as early as possible. Although there aren’t any major surprises with the game’s specs on Windows, those planning to play it on Mac will want to make sure that their current system can handle it because older models may not be able to do so.
That said, the Frostpunk 2 system requirements on PC aren’t all that demanding. You only need a GTX 1050 / RX 550 at a minimum, while its recommended specs list either the 2060 Super RTX or RX 5700. A Ryzen 5 / Intel i5 CPU and 8GB RAM rounds out the former, while a Ryzen 7 / Intel i7 CPU and 16GB RAM completes the latter. Its Mac specs, on the other hand, are relatively pickier since its minimum requirements need you to have a system that contains either the M1 or M1 Pro processor and graphics. Now, as long as the Mac system you’re currently using boasts an M1 chip or better, you’ll have no issue playing Frostpunk 2, even if it is only on low settings. But if you’re still using a MacBook Pro or Air from before 2019, you may want to consider trading it in if it’s your main gaming platform.
As for those on Windows, any mid-range build will likely suffice since the game isn’t overly demanding. It’s also worth noting that Frostpunk 2 is on GeForce Now, so you can add it to your library and stream it on a compatible device.
