Ready or Not is exactly the type of game that deserves a VR version. The actual developers of the immersive SWAT team title haven’t made one, but that’s fine, because a new VR mod is being released today, with the official devs’ blessing. The launch trailer dropped yesterday, November 13, at VR Games Showcase.

It’s officially called Ready or Not VRO Mod, with the ‘VRO’ referring to Virtual Reality Oasis, a popular VR-focused YouTuber who has turned his attention to creating this mod with help from another developer known as KITT. The best part about it is that it is completely free to download, provided that you already own a copy of Ready or Not on Steam – it’s not a standalone mod.

Ready or Not VRO Mod releases on November 14

Virtual Reality Oasis, otherwise known as Mike, released the launch retailer on his YouTube channel, confirming the release date for November 14. The mod is still in active development, and the best way to follow along with dev updates is on the official Discord server. At the time of writing, the latest patch was on November 10, numbered as ‘Build 569’.

Ahead of the release, VRO provided VR creator Beardo Banjo with early access for review. He calls it a “Game Changer for VR Mods,” and it offers some major improvements over the previous UEVR mod for Ready or Not, including full-motion hand controls. If you’re looking to play Ready or Not VRO mod on your gaming PC, the devs say you should be able to run it “if you can run base RON on high settings,” adding that “DLSS4 helps a ton”.

It has been a busy week for VR fans, primarily thanks to the unveiling of Valve’s latest VR headset, the Steam Frame. The release of this new mod gives VR gamers something new to play while we wait for it to be released next year.
