GTA 6 Netflix trailer will have “everyone” watching, says Take-Two CEO, so “definitely” subscribe if you don’t already

Any fan of Grand Theft Auto would have heard last week that GTA 6 is getting an “An Extended Look” special later this month. There has been some criticism surrounding its limited Netflix exclusivity, but either way, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar Games’ parent company), Strauss Zelnick, had one thing to say: “If you’re not a Netflix subscriber, you definitely should be”.
Rockstar Games released a teaser last week to let everyone know the extended look will premiere on August 27 at 9 PM ET. For the first six hours, it will be exclusive to Netflix, but it will later be uploaded to Rockstar’s official YouTube, completely free to view. The contents of the extended trailer remain elusive, and Zelnick also opted to give nothing away in his latest comments.
GTA 6 Extended Look requires a Netflix subscription for its first six hours
Zelnick’s comments come from a recent interview with IGN. “Well, as you’d imagine, I’m only going to say great things about Netflix,” said the Take-Two boss. “If you’re not a Netflix subscriber, you definitely should be one. And as for the trailer itself, it’s coming soon enough that I’ll let you arrive at your own conclusion. I’m sure you’re going to watch it because everyone is.”

It’s obvious to say Netflix has a massive audience, and we’d expect the new extended GTA 6 trailer to have a prominent spot on the platform, attracting those who otherwise may not have bothered seeking it on YouTube. Whether that be non-gamers, or just those who have less time for gaming these days (it has been nearly 13 years since GTA 5 released, after all).
“I think Rockstar felt that a Netflix release would be a great way to show off the extended trailer. Six hours later it will be available on Rockstar’s YouTube channel and I think ultimately on many other outlets, and I think this is an example of Rockstar trying new things and marketing the title and I hope there’s much more to come.”
Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two Interactive CEO
Netflix already lists Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on its site, which, again, offers no insight into what it will include. The official runtime is also not confirmed, but current expectations sit around 20-30 minutes. Reportedly, Netflix Customer Service says it will be “approximately 20 minutes”; however, assuming this chat response is AI-generated, take it with a grain of salt.
The upcoming extended look could be the biggest reveal fans get in the build-up to the GTA 6 release date. At this point, it’s difficult to imagine the launch will be delayed again – though we suppose you never know. Either way, Grand Theft Auto VI is currently penciled in for November 19, and pre-orders have been available since June 25 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
