Rockstar Games has officially released its GTA 6 pre-orders, launching with two different price tags for two different editions – the $79.99 Standard Edition and the $99.99 Ultimate Edition. The latter comes with exclusive in-game content. However, neither of them comes with an actual game disc, and even physical edition Amazon listings (Xbox / PS5) are limited to code in the box.

There is currently no disc version of Grand Theft Auto VI available for purchase. Rockstar has reportedly confirmed that this will eventually change, but not in time for the GTA 6 release date on November 19. On top of that, according to a leaker by the name of Graczdari, who correctly predicted no day-one physical release, fans may have to wait until December for the disc version.

GTA 6 physical disc release to come in “following months” after launch

Polish publication PPE.pl previously reported on a tip from well-known leaker ‘Graczdari’ suggesting that the physical disc will not be available until a few weeks after launch. For collectors looking to get their hands on a physical disc, the leaker suggests a December 2026 window. While Rockstar hasn’t specified the month, a response from its support team confirms a disc is coming.

One of PPE.pl’s readers chimed in with a message from Rockstar Support to confirm that current pre-orders only account for digital copies. Assuming the screenshot below is legitimate, the support team says a physical disc copy will be available in “the following months”.

We would still take the snippet above with a grain of salt due to a grammatical error, but it’s currently being reported as legitimate. Either way, the lack of physical disc pre-orders has irked fans, and it is a shame to see physical media enthusiasts essentially being forced to wait until after launch to pick up the game – unless they don’t mind buying it twice.

It’s also important to note that those who pre-order GTA 6 earn a special pre-order bonus: the Vintage Vice City Pack, which comes with an exclusive ’55 Vapid Stanier vehicle, outfits for Jason and Lucia, and weapon skins based on the iconic Tommy Vercetti palm tree shirt from GTA: Vice City, released way back in 2002. Those waiting for a physical disc copy will miss out.
