Intel has released an official statement, saying it will offer an extended warranty for potentially affected 13th and 14th gen CPUs.
Intel has been plagued by stability issues surrounding its 13th and 14th-generation processors for quite some time now, and despite some fans staying true to the cause, others are starting to look elsewhere for their DIY PC Building needs. The company is in the process of resolving the CPU defects and is also currently facing a class-action lawsuit for the same reasons.
At the moment, Intel is receiving complaints of CPU instability on an almost daily basis. So far, the company has put out multiple updates like BIOS fixes and a microcode fix that will arrive next month, in the hopes of resolving some of the problems. However, Intel also said that it has no permanent solution for the CPUs that have been damaged by the increased voltage – and are instead offering an extended warranty for potentially affected units.

In an attempt to counter the issues, Intel has issued an official statement, which would extend the warranty period of 13th and 14th gen processors.
Intel offers warranty, replacement, and increased customer service
Intel, in its official response, said that the company won’t be holding off sales or calling back 14th and 13th-gen CPUs. Instead, Intel said that it would extend the warranty period of the boxed CPUs by two years and increase customer support. Further, Intel has also offered a replacement processor for users who are facing instability issues.
The warranty mentioned in the official response covers users who have boxed Intel 14th & 13th Gen processors. Earlier, Intel had made it clear that CPUs with a TDP of 65W are the ones that have been affected, so the warranty will include these processors.
Earlier in July, Intel said that it had found the root cause of the instability, which was elevated operating voltages. The company said that these issues can be fixed with a microcode, which will be made available to its partners in August. In the same month, Intel ALSO confirmed that a previous batch of processors had oxidation issues and there’s no solution for CPUs that are already degraded.
While Intel seems to be having a difficult time, it is also gearing up for the release of its next generation of processors. A few days ago, Intel announced that it would be launching Core Ultra 200V CPUs on September 3rd, which is in a few weeks. In addition to this, the Arrow Lake desktop CPUs are also expected to be released in Q4 of this year.
