Intel Panther Lake featured at IFA Berlin 2025 as Acer shows off AI laptop powered by a next-gen CPU
Table of Contents
Intel Panther Lake, the code-name for Intel’s next generation of processors, is set to power a range of hardware in 2026. Intel admitted it “fumbled” its previous desktop CPU launch, and is now looking forward to Panther Lake. We have our first look at what kind of hardware is getting the next-gen architecture at IFA Berlin 2025, which has already kicked off. Acer in particular has already made a bunch of new laptop and monitor announcements.
Along with revealing the Acer Swift Air 16, a 16-inch laptop that weighs less than 1kg (the brand’s lightest Copilot+ PC), there’s also the new Acer Swift 16 AI laptop. Be careful not to mix these names up. The Air model is powered by Ryzen, but the AI model “supports Intel’s Next-gen Processor Code-named Panther Lake”.
Intel Panther Lake powers the Acer Swift 16 AI laptop
We don’t know the exact name of the CPU inside it, only that this model will be powered by Intel’s next-gen CPUs, or at least, “supports” them in some capacity. Small print notes that the specs may vary depending on model and/or region, so there’s a chance an AMD-powered variant will be available, too, just like the <1kg Air model.
Either way, this suggests Panther Lake development is coming along nicely. Acer notes that the Swift 16 AI is launching “very, very soon,” though there’s little indication of when that might actually be.
- Processor: Supports Intel’s Next-gen Processor Code-name Panther Lake
- Design: World’s Largest Haptic Trackpad with Stylus Support
- Display: Up to 16″ 3K OLED 120Hz
- Memory & Storage: Up to 32GB LPDDR5X
- Connectivity: Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Dual USB-C Thunderbolt 4
The Acer Swift 16 AI also features the “World’s Largest Haptic Trackpad with Stylus Support,” which Acer says gives creators a digital canvas of sorts – rather than using the display’s touch screen, you can use the trackpad and stylus for more precise movements. That’s not to say that the display isn’t impressive either; it is an (up to) 16″ OLED panel with 3K resolution.

We might be able to see the Swift 16 AI towards the end of 2025 as one of the first Panther Lake-powered devices. Once we move on to 2026, we’ll likely hear more about upcoming Panther Lake products at CES in January, potentially the desktop CPUs that provide a way for Intel to redeem itself after the lukewarm Core Ultra 200S Series.
Intel says Panther Lake comes with the following features:
- New Core IPs
- Faster Graphics & Gaming
- Long Battery Life
- Next Gen AI
