Intel’s new Core Ultra CPUs nowhere to be seen in new sales stats, 7800X3D still number one
Table of Contents
In case you missed it, Intel recently launched its new ‘Arrow Lake’ Core Ultra CPU range, but it didn’t arrive with a massive amount of fanfare. Many reviewers criticized the gaming performance; something we also noticed in our review of the flagship Intel Core Ultra 285K, even falling behind the 14900K in some scenarios. It feels much more like a refresh, and the fact you’ll need a new Z890 motherboard to go along with one of these CPUs doesn’t help.
So, with AMD already well-established on its latest AM5 platform, it makes sense to see Team Red really dominate the CPU market. According to new stats posted by TechEpiphany on X, there isn’t a single Intel CPU in the top 10, and the new Core Ultra chips are nowhere to be seen.

AMD holds nearly 95% of market share in new sales numbers
Although not specified in the post, these numbers are likely from the German retailer Mindfactory, chiefly because we’ve seen plenty of stats from them via the same source before (including GPUs), and the fact that the 7600X3D is included, a SKU that is exclusive to select retailers such as MF – and Micro Center in the US. According to the post, AMD recently sold 730 units compared to Intel’s 40, making for a 94.81% / 5.19% split.
CPU (top 10) | Units sold |
---|---|
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 190 |
AMD Ryzen 5 5700X3D | 120 |
AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D | 40 |
AMD Ryzen 5 5700X | 30 |
AMD Ryzen 7 7700 | 30 |
AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D | 30 |
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X | 20 |
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X | 20 |
AMD Ryzen 5 7600X | 20 |
AMD Ryzen 7 7700X | 20 |
As we can see, the Ryzen 5000 and 7000 series are proving to be the most popular, so not much has changed. Just outside of the top 10 is the Ryzen 5 9600X with 10 units sold. These numbers post-Arrow Lake launch, which took place on October 24th, but not a single one of the new Intel CPUs makes the list, possibly due to selling less than 10 units or minimal stock levels. The first Intel processor to appear on the list is the Intel Core i5-13400, also selling 10 units.
7800X3D remains on top
Looking back to Mindfactory stats from a couple of days ago, the 7800X3D was well out on top between October 21st – 27th, so it’s not surprising to see it still leading. This is one of the most (if not the number one) popular CPUs on the market right now.
While its successor, the 9800X3D, is just around the corner, the X3D chip is excellent for gaming and will still be relevant for some time to come. In our 7800X3D review, we noted its “fantastic gaming performance” and the fact it is now more affordable due to its age, something which will no doubt impact its sales stats.
