iPhone 17 might get a brand-new Apple accessory, leak reveals a magnetic strap designed for iPhone 17 cases

We’re more than likely less than two weeks away from the reveal of the iPhone 17. Apple is running its next event on September 9, and while it hasn’t officially confirmed what hardware is included yet, September is the time for a new generation of iPhones. We already expect a shake-up this year, thanks to the rumored iPhone 17 Air, which is set to replace the previous Plus model.
Accessories-wise, there have already been a few phone case leaks to take a glance at. And now, a whole new accessory has been revealed from a prolific leaker who goes by the name of Majin Bu. They claim Apple is launching the ‘Crossbody Strap’, an accessory designed “primarily for iPhone 17 cases,” but it could also be compatible with the upcoming AirPods Pro 3.
Crossbody Strap for iPhone 17 cases
The design is said to feature a magnetic system to keep the strap secured in place with a flexible metal core along the entire length of the strap. Magnetic rings at the ends of the accessory close the system, which means no need for traditional hooks or loops. The leaker says “reliable sources” have indicated production for the Crossbody Strap is well underway, which suggests the product will be available along with, or soon after, the launch of the iPhone 17 series.
There’s only so much we can say about a strap, so check out the leaked images below for a closer look at its design. These samples are made from woven nylon, which is similar to the material used in loop bands designed for sport, though it’s possible Apple will introduce a silicone variant, too.
Think of the Crossbody Strap as a kind of lanyard for your phone, if you will… just across your body. There’s no indication so far of how much this new accessory will cost, but knowing Apple, we can only speculate more expensive than we’d like. In any case, as we draw closer to the launch of the new range, you might want to check out where to pre-order or buy the iPhone 17.

As you can see, the strap will be available in a range of colors, much like the Liquid Silicone and TechWoven cases that Majin Bu leaked earlier this month. It’s unclear why exactly these two accesssories are so compatibile with each other, so some are raising doubts over the authenticity of this leak. As always, take these early rumors with a pinch of salt.
