Free up to 10% FPS performance boost for Nvidia systems: simply fix this profile settings issue

Table of Contents
After pondering why his RTX 5090 and Intel CPU setup was underperforming, Jason Langiven of JayzTwoCents (plus a friend of the channel, Splave, who owns a business selling factory overclocked PCs) uncovered the culprit in the Nvidia profile settings. The source of the performance boost is resizable bar, aka rBAR – a technology that enables the CPU to access all of a graphics card’s VRAM, rather than a limited amount of it, as is typical. A simple tweak of the settings should resolve it, as detailed in the video and steps below.
The level of performance uplift will vary depending on the game, but the difference could apparently be around 10% FPS improvement in some titles.

Will this free performance boost work on your Nvidia system?
Reportedly, this issue primarily affects PCs with an Intel processor paired with an Nvidia 40-series or 50-series graphics card, though there have been some people claiming in the comments under the video that it also affects their builds with AMD Ryzen processors. There hasn’t been exhaustive testing done on older tech, however, so if your Nvidia GPU is a bit older, it’s perhaps still worth testing.
If your system isn’t eligible for this uplift, then the Jayman has also put together another video detailing other tweaks you can make to your system to enhance performance, so do be sure to check that out as well.
How to unlock this performance boost
Mr TwoCents explains it very well in the above video, but if you’re just after a handy list of steps to reference whilst you go through the process yourself, cast your eyes below:
- Download ‘Nvidia Profile Inspector’: this will give you a great deal more expansive settings to edit than you get with the Nvidia control panel.
- From the ‘Profiles’ dropdown at the top, select ‘_GLOBAL_DRIVER_PROFILE (Base Profile)’: in this list is a profile for every game that your Nvidia GPU has drivers for; however, you should select this setting to apply the changes to all games.
- Scroll down to section ‘5 – Commons‘
- Set ‘rBAR – Enable’ to ‘Enabled’
- Set ‘rBAR – Options’ to ‘0X00000001’: you can ignore whatever game titles it may or may not show, just select the option that ends in a ‘1’
- Set ‘rBAR – Size Limit’ to ‘0X0000000040000000’: as above, but this time make sure the one with a ‘4’ in it is selected
- Click ‘Apply changes’ in the top right of the window
