Jensen Huang says AI will “reinvigorate the video game industry” following RTX 50 series reveal

We’ve had a little bit of time to think about the launch of the RTX 50 series, which saw the unveiling of four new GPUs from the RTX 5090 down to the 5070. Now that CES 2025 has come to a close, it feels like one of the biggest benefits of the new generation is the inclusion of DLSS 4, specifically its Multi Frame Generation technology which is locked to the 50 series.
It’s clear that, unsurprisingly, AI will remain a big part of Nvidia’s business as a whole. The RTX 50 series is designed with both gamers and creators in mind and artificial intelligence is going to play a big part in video game graphics and development moving forward. This is something that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was keen to point out during his interview with Bloomberg.
AI is playing a big part for both players and developers
In a recent interview with Bloomberg at CES 2025, Huang touched on a few different topics, including exactly how AI will make a difference for the video game industry as a whole. Let’s first compile some key quotes from the interview below:
“AI is going to reinvigorate the video game industry”
“it’s going to reduce the cost of creating the content”
“content development cost is going to decline”
“the future is really bright for video games”

As we can see, it’s not just PC gamers themselves that will benefit from the AI craze. Huang puts plenty of focus on developers too. We’ve already seen game developers utilizing AI in games to mixed reception – Black Ops 6 has been a good example of this not going down too well with players. However, we can’t disagree with the fact it will help reduce costs.
Speaking on characters, or NPCs if you prefer, he states that AI will help make games with characters that “are going to be more interesting” and capable of “interacting with you in a much more intelligent way”. While this should hold true to a certain extent, it may be hard to knock the feeling that AI replacing carefully crafted stories or characters at the hand of a human will face some backlash.
“Compute graphics is going to be here forever” says Huang when asked about Nvidia’s desktop graphics business, but the advent of AI has allowed for incredible performance boosts. We’ve already seen claims that the RTX 5070 will offer similar performance to the RTX 4090 as a result of DLSS 4 upscaling and frame generation; both are examples of tech powered by AI.
Fusing artificial intelligence and graphics allows for images that “wouldn’t be possible” without AI amplifying that capability. To put that in perspective, as an example, he says that out of 33 million pixels on a 4K screen, 2 million of those can be computed, with the remaining 31 million generated by AI.
