Like many people (we imagine), we’ve been keeping a close eye on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel for any sign of GTA 6 trailer 3. Much like Rockstar’s GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, the much-anticipated third trailer is expected to announce GTA 6 pre orders, so it really feels like a lot is riding on its release.

Last week, a leak from Best Buy made gamers believe that pre-orders, and assumedly trailer 3, would arrive today, on May 18. At the time of writing this, Rockstar still hasn’t made anything official. Fans of Grand Theft Auto may be waiting longer than expected, as a leak suggests Best Buy “got it wrong and no pre-orders will be launching today”.

Reportedly, pre-orders won’t be happening on May 18

A good old-fashioned forum post is the source of the latest information. While you’ll have to take it with a grain of salt, the fact that we haven’t yet seen the GTA 6 trailer means we’re losing hope of a May 18 release time. User Graczdari_91 says Grand Theft Auto fans should keep their expectations “in check” and not get too excited for pre-orders today.

We cannot confirm the legitimacy of this leak, but the poster claims to have some kind of insider information via internal company emails surrounding the leaked Best Buy pre-orders. It is worth noting that the original Best Buy leak did speak of a promotion running between May 18 and May 21, so you may still be able to hold out hope for the next few days.

In contrast, it looks like Rockstar will be able to stick to its latest GTA 6 release date, despite several delays prior. Trailer 2 still has the old May 26 release date, but Rockstar has since updated this to November 19, 2026. This is when it will release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, while the PC port is due to release at a later date.
