Leaker dismisses Steam Frame release date rumors, but we won’t be waiting “too long” for Valve to announce it

Recent rumors regarding the Steam Frame release date point to one date in particular: today, September 7 (people have written entire posts about this). Valve hasn’t announced anything just yet, and now it seems there will be no official announcement during this year’s Labor Day in the United States. A reputable leaker says don’t expect a release this week.
The only official release window for the Steam Frame is this summer, which Valve officially announced a few months back for both the Steam Machine and Steam Frame. The former was released at the end of June, but fans are left waiting for the new VR headset to finally launch. While we wait, the number of compatible titles keeps growing, recently hitting triple digits.
Steam Frame likely won’t launch this week, says leaker
Fans continue to endure ‘Valve time’ for Steam Frame’s launch, but they shouldn’t be waiting much longer at this point. The official summer release window is waning, and gamers should perhaps set their expectations for an official announcement next week at the earliest.

Leaker GogoXR claims there will be no announcement on this year’s Labor Day, adding that Valve won’t be announcing anything this whole week. As usual, these claims are unconfirmed and should be taken with a pinch of salt. At the very least, GogoXR has a pretty good track record, and their claims tend to be corroborated by other leakers such as Brad Lynch.
Plenty of milestones have been met in the run-up to the Steam Frame launch. The growing number of compatible games aside, the headset already has FCC certification, and more recently, packages have been spotted on SteamDB. The latter seems to be one of the last things for Valve to check off its pre-launch list, as both the Steam Machine and Steam Controller were officially introduced shortly after packages surfaced on the online database.
