Lenovo’s Legion Go handhelds are some of the most popular on the market, with a bunch of different models available – the latest being the Legion Go 2. The Go 2, currently available as a Windows handheld, will also be getting a native SteamOS version this June. However, despite branching out support for operating systems, frequent driver updates have never really been an advantage of the Legion Go series.

Lenovo has previously shut down rumors about dropping support for the original Legion Go model, but it also seems to have ground to a halt with the newest Go 2. An official response from a Lenovo representative says the company has no “publicly available ETA to share” right now regarding the next set of Legion Go 2 graphics drivers.

Legion Go 2 graphics drivers will be updated at some point

Users report that it has been months since Lenovo rolled out new drivers. Speaking on the topic of Legion Go 2 driver support, one Redditor claims they “haven’t seen an update” since last September. Someone posting to the official Lenovo forums managed to get an official response from a Lenovo representative.

They confirm that “the product has not been abandoned,” suggesting you use Lenovo Vantage to check for updates and the Lenovo Support page to manually track down any graphics drivers you may not have yet installed.

It’s a stark contrast to the likes of the Steam Deck, which enjoys new updates every month, and it’s apparent that Legion Go owners were growing weary of the silence and seeming lack of communication between Lenovo and AMD to deliver regular driver updates – all Legion Go handhelds are powered by AMD graphics, after all.

Since Valve regularly updates its in-house operating system, SteamOS versions of Lenovo handhelds (currently available for the Legion Go S) will also benefit. In fact, the most recent SteamOS 3.8.0 and 3.8.1 updates specifically mention ‘Non-Deck’ improvements, including Lenovo devices.
