Sometime in May 2025, Lenovo is set to launch its upcoming gaming tablet, the Legion Tab Gen 4, which will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It features an 8.8-inch screen expected to feature a 3K resolution and a 165 Hz refresh rate, along with a single camera on the back. And while Lenovo is expected to share more specific details in the coming days, the company has already confirmed the return of the storage card slot.
This comes from a recent teaser post Lenovo shared on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, confirming that expandable storage is going to be making a return with Legion Tab Gen 4. According to the post, the gaming tablet will come with a TF card slot, which isn’t any different than a microSD card slot, as both support the same standard and can be used interchangeably.
Are you happy with this change?
Lenovo Legion Go tablets have always featured an SD card slot. However, the last-gen Legion Tab Gen 3, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, dropped expandable storage. While we don't know the exact reason behind this change, it may have been due to manufacturing costs, but judging by the fact that Lenovo is bringing the feature back with the Gen 4, it's safe to say many fans weren't happy with the decision.
That said, Lenovo Legion Go tablets have remained a popular Android tablet choice for many, whether for gaming or general use. Now, with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 4 gaming tablet confirmed to bring back storage expansion, we expect to see consumers come back to Lenovo once again.
Another Lenovo handheld launch coming in May is the SteamOS variant of the Lenovo Legion Go S, which went up for pre-order on Best Buy last month.
