For quite a few months, there were rumors about Meta working on a new VR headset. This VR headset, referred to as “Meta Quest 3S,” was said to be a “lite” version of the Meta Quest 3 and was supposed to share several specs and appearance with the Meta Quest 2.
In addition to the online speculation and leaks, certificates filed by Meta for a new VR headset were spotted, further strengthening the rumors. While Meta had remained quiet on the matter for a long time, the company dropped an official page for the Meta Quest 3S, thus confirming the new headset at its Meta Connect event.

According to Meta’s new official product page for the new VR headset, the device is powered by the same Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset. This means the Meta Quest 3S will be able to run all the games that the Meta Quest 3 can.
Altered design, priced from $299.99
As far as appearance is concerned, the VR headset looks slightly larger and doesn’t feature a depth sensor. Further, the Meta Quest 3S has an 1832 x 1920 per eye resolution, which is lower than the Meta Quest 3 but 4.5x more than the Quest 2. However, these adjustments do not come as a surprise, considering that this is supposed to be an affordable “lite” headset.
As mentioned, the price of the Meta Quest 3S is set at $299.99, which aligns with the price estimates that Mark Gurman had mentioned earlier. For $299.99, you can get the base model with a 128GB storage capacity. For the 256GB variant, you will have to shell out $399.99.
